Hi all,
I have a MSI Mag Meta 5. This unit has a Ryzen 7 3700X with a MSI B450m Pro VDH Max.
I'd like to swap the 3700X for a 5800X, but I don't know which bios to choose.

My current bios version is EB930AMS.810, released on 1/06/2020.
I looked at the different bios versions at the webpage of my motherboard, but my current version is not there. The naming scheme is also very different
Then I looked at the webpage of my prebuilt, and there is a bios as well. Version 880, this looks more like the one I have (I assume I have version 810?).

Now, what is the differnece between the bios specifically for the Mag Meta 5 prebuilt, and the bios for the B450M Pro VDH Max motherboard?
Which one should I use to run Ryzen 5000?

Also, I think the windows key is tied to the motherboard. Will I lose access to this if I flash a 'normal' bios for this mobo instead of the one specifically for the prebuilt? Wouldn't this change the 'identity' of my motherboard?

Thanks in advance!

Fauc, given the MSI B450m Pro VDH Max, which is the motherboard used in the Mag Meta 5, has already a had bios update released to enable support for 5000 series Ryzen processors does MSI have any plans to issue a bios update for the Mag Meta 5 to enable support for 5000 support series Ryzen processors in it also? There appears to be no technical issues with this occurring.

Hi Arrado,

I just upgraded my Mag Meta 5 from a Ryzen 3600 to a 5600x with no problem and I'm using bios EB930AMSv880.

I think they added support for the 5000 series processors in the revision prior to that one. In my opinion it looks like they're trying to be sneaky and hide the revision history from the support page (https://www.msi.com/Desktop/MAG-META-5-3/support#down-bios) to try and give people the false illusion that they need to spend more money than they have to, doing a bigger upgrade at an earlier stage. All motherboards have revision histories so it is a really bad practice that they don't do the same for their full systems.

Na they just have pointless and useless update notes if you want to know use a App called Ryzen SMU Checker it will tell you what CPU that bios supports
As you can see it supports most of the AMD range just not any of the 5000 series APU like 5600g or 5700g
Weather or not it has full supports for all functions of the CPU is any ones guess.
