Hi
I had a few problems with a corrupted bios, various error message, failure to boot. So I reinstalled factory default, everything was ok but I noticed it was quite an old version. So I downloaded the latest version, used m-flash to install it all seemed to go well. rebooted pc it went straight into bios and that's what it does every time. I've disconnected the power and left it for 15 mins or so still the same, every time it boots it boots straight to the bios. Going to try going back 1 version see what happens.

Well that did the trick. So gone back from 7E12V1A to 7E12V19, at least that's a more recent version than the factory one. Now all seems to be well.

Is this one your OS drive
M.2 WD SN850X-WDS100T2XHE 2280 Gen4 1TB

If so it may be the problem as there have been some cases of non-detection with some Bios versions with WD 800 and Samsung 900 series M.2

I also have a WD SN850X (2TB version), and the motherboard will not see it in slot M2_1 using the most recent firmware (7E12v1C). I installed a version from last August (7E12v14), but I may go for the more recent one knowing that it sees our SSD.

I may just hold off for the next BIOS version though (assuming MSI have been able to fix this issue) -- there's lots to set up on this new PC.

Another new BIOS for the MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi has just been released - 7E12v1D (2024-06-21) - Fix system will auto restart after first boot to OS.

A user on Reddit reports the new BIOS version still doesn’t recognize the SSD.

Im also having an issue booting with RAM on XMP overclocking. I may try clearing CMOS and setting the profile again.

i hope a BIOS can be released that solves the problems I’m having with my particular hardware combination.

Well, having said things were ok, turns out not. At least one in three times boots to bios. Close bios, wait at least four minutes for it to boot into Windows. Think I'll go back to factory bios, until one is released that sorts this.

I have the same SSD as well. 7E12v152(Beta version) is the most recent bios that works for me without any issue if you want to give that a try.

Yes that is the most recent stable bios I am able to use with my sn850 drive. Anything past that has issues on cold boots detecting the m2_1 slot.

Hi! Do you also have overclocked DDR RAM? If so, do you have long or hanging cold boots?

I have version 7E12v14 and it recognizes my WD SN850X Black 2TB. I also have 32GB G.Skill RAM (2x16GB) overclocked with EXPO and the computer will hang when cold booting. To start the computer when this happens I have to press the power button while it's (apparently) frozen. While I wait, the red and amber EZ debug lights for CPU and RAM are lit.

My big hope is for the next BIOS to address this and have our SSD be recognized in the M2_1 slot.

It is encouraging there are mods here who seem to have connections to the MSI staff and can relay our woes!

Did you turn on memory context restore after it does memory training? Can reduce boot times significantly.

I haven't turned on memory context restore -- I heard it can cause instability when the PC is just running. Do you OC your RAM and have memory context restore set? Just curious to hear other's thoughts/experiences. This is the first non-work issued PC I've been using so alot of this is new to me.

I run the expo profile on my g. skill ram at 6000mt/s cl30 and I have it enabled. My boot times are roughly around 20 to 30 seconds. Have not had any issues having memory context restore enabled. Usually I let the pc boot with memory training at least once and then enable it. And I totally understand wanting some others points of view or experiences. No worries.

7E12v152(Beta version), everything seems ok now. Boots straight into Windows, have enabled memory context restore, power down and expo 1, much faster boot time probably about 30 secs to Windows log in screen. Great that we have to go back 7 bios updates to get a properly working system.

Right there with you. Would love to be able to be functional and updated enough with the bios for ryzen 9000 series.

I guess it can't hurt to try it right? I'll give it a whirl and see how it does for my build.
