Hi,
  • I just purchased a brand new MSI MAG272QP QD-OLED X50 today and went to update the firmware to the latest (as you do), but immediately encountering an error that isn't listed in the manual:
  • 1. I downloaded the firmware utility and 013 firmware files from the following location - https://www.msi.com/Monitor/MAG-272QP-QD-OLED-X50/support#firmware
  • 2. Opened the firmware utility and followed all instructions multiple times but I get the attached error every time 'SCALER TYPE NOT EQUAL!' after loading the file and the error comes up immediately upon pressing the 'AUTO' button to commence the firmware upload.
  • 3. I triple checked the model's name is definitely MAG272QP QD-OLED X50 on box and sticker on back of monitor
  • 4. The monitor is currently running firmware 011 version according to settings menu
  • 5. No one else on the internet appears to have experienced this issue that I can find via search.
Help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm having this exact issue. I have a MSI MAG 321UPX and yesterday, when trying to update it to FW.033, I got the error 'Scaler type not equal!!!". I have had this monitor for a while now and I hadn't had any issues updating before. I'm on FW.031 right now. I find it confusing that the .zip file that contains the firmware has two firmwares in it, FW.033 and FW.118. I haven't tried flashing with the FW.118 file because I'm scared to brick the monitor. That number version is not consistent with the other firmwares so far (FW.031, FW.030, FW.027...).

I am having the same issue. Just picked the monitor up today and am totally stumped with this issue. Hope someone chimes in with some help.

Edit: It actually appears my unit is on the most recent firmware, 013. So either it shipped with the newest firmware or the update worked even though I was getting the popups saying there was an issue (prior to the "scaler type not equal", I was getting a different error about an isp issue).

I'm having the exact same error with a

MAG 271QPX QD-OLED

I've tried the latest Firmware Update Tool 1.34 and even the older one 1.06 and none will work with the new FW.040.

Yes, I'm using the DP that came with the product. I've already updated the firmware in the past with no issues.

Having the same 'SCALER TYPE NOT EQUAL!' issue on my MSI MAG321UPX QD-OLED. Have updated firmware successfully many times before. Can't update now from FW 0.31 to FW 0.33 using Update Tool 1.34. I've followed all instructions.

Have the same issue. I submitted a complaint, and I hope more of you do the same so MSI realizes there's a problem. I was told to send my monitor in for an RMA, which seems unreasonable just to get a firmware update on a monitor that's otherwise working perfectly.

RMA?? if thats their solution then i'll take advantage of the protection plan i purchased. they need to fix the issue. if it's happening on multiple monitor models, its not an issue with your unit.
