I have an "MSI Optix MAG27C" monitor.

The screen is EXTREMELY bright. In fact, my eyes are watering right now.

And, unfortunately, I can't turn the brightness down! The "brightness" setting is grayed out (see image).

Please help. Why in the world would "brightness" be disabled? How do I turn it down?

Thanks, bar2ian! That worked!

I'm going to still complain, though: I cranked the brightness/contrast both down to 0 and it's still brighter than I'd like in the dark.

I just don't get why, when I have brightness and contrast both cranked down to 0, my monitor still lights up my room (in the dark). To prove that it should be possible to have lower brightness, I installed a program ("PangoBright") which successfully brings my monitor brightness down much, much more. It seems silly to have to install a third party app to do something my monitor should be able to do natively. What am I misunderstanding?

Please modify some setting value as below:
Mode: Standard
DCR: OFF
FreeSyn to OFF
Response Time: OFF

Please make sure HDR to OFF on Windwos 10 OS.

HI
I have an "MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR" ... and I have problem with Brightness ... It is so bright that I cannot use the scree. It gives me headache after 30 minute use. In my case I'm using MAC (macOS Big Sur) ...connected through USB C. I have no idea what to do to lower the brightness (it is grayed in the control screen so I have no way of adjusting it) ... The screen is making significant stress on my eye .. I use it mostly as an extra screen for work purposes .. is there a setting that would could reduce the stress on the eye t ?

Many thanks in advance for the help

If you're using this monitor for gaming, leave AdaptiveSync (FreeSync) ON, and set your response time to FAST or FASTEST. These settings don't affect your ability to adjust your monitor's brightness, and they are crucial for gaming.
