Mainboard led firmware abnormal. Update MB LED FW

Has anyone else been running into this issue with the MSI boards? I been through 2 boards already and it has been giving me this same issue. I'm ready to throw the dam thing out the window. Apparently I'm not the only one either from what I looked up on Google. Has anyone found a work around for this yet? Or do I have to return the board or get it fixed? It seems this happens every time I tried to daisy chain my cases M/B D-RGB 3 pin daisy chain male header into my MSI MAG 240r female header that is daisy chained and connected to jrainbow 2 port. I'm suspecting that I'm screwing up the LED firmware on the boards by doing this as the msi AIO fan rgb, mobo rgb were lighting up. When I connected them, the case rgb lit up but the AIO and mobo weren't anymore. Shut it off and turned it on and now nothing lights up besides the rgb ram sticks. Tried clear cmos, turn off and on rgb on mobo, unplugging and turning off and on power cord, and making sure the connections are all right. I'm also new to argb and daisy chaining so I would appreciate any input anyone has. I will be getting the phanteks rgb fan hub for the case lights and see if that makes them go on. Updated bios and everything i could think of under the sun. Also will a rgb fan hub be able to turn on all the rgb if its not connected to the mobo anymore? Checked all connections and they seem to be right but took photos so anyone can tell me if I missed something. B550 tomahawk, MSI MAG 240r AIO, AMD Ryzen 3700x, Kingston 3200 2 sticks of ram, Thermaltake 700w psu, case phanteks p360a.

I was also just told by Phanteks that my drgb controller may be defective as well. So Im probably bricking the LED FW on the Mobo by connecting the M/B DRGB cable into the female header of the MSI AIO 240 mag that is connected to the Mobo. Is this Mobo salvageable? Or did I just screw this up again and need to return the board or RMA it?

I have the exact same abnormal LED Firmware issue on my Z690 Godlike. I purchased the parts for my build back in October 2022. MSI tells me I have to send the motherboard in for RMA and wait months for repair which is absolutely unacceptable as I need my computer for work. I basically had to reset BIOS and do a complete fresh install of windows and start over (was able to recover files I backed up) as the issue led to all types of corruption in windows registry. I still have the abnormal LED issue, but at least I have a working computer minus RGB. This is a major issue that MSI needs to take accountability for and repair without the detriment to its customers!!!

But if not I will chase it up file should be the same as the board model number
Also some screenshots and use the MSI Tool and upload the log
Of the Error

Also, List all your Hardware as some ARGB hardware has been a problem and breaking the Firmware

Alan JT,

I was able to fix the abnormal LED FW issue using the information and the tools you gave me. I GREATLY appreciate all your help and will do my part to spread this information to anyone that may need it. Once again, thank you for taking time to help me with this very frustrating issue!

Hey Alan, I'm having the same LED FW problem on a B550m Pro. MSI center tells me my LED FW version is 7C95. However, the link you shared does not have that specific version. It has 7C94 though. I'm guessing these two are not compatible, but is there any way to get this 7C95 FW?

WIll have a look for it

I don't think you have that correct

The board number is 7D14
With out the correct Version it will not work.
Can you use MSI Center System details to grab the correct number and screenshot it, please

Hello, I have the MSI B550M PRO-VDH Wifi. I also have the problem that the LED firmware is abnormal. My LED firmware version is 7C95 but I can't find the fix for it. I hope someone can help me?

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately it doesn't work. I reset the cmos as instructed and disconnected the power cable for 5 minutes. Apparently the hardware is defective. It was worth a try. Have a nice day :-(
