Mainboard led firmware abnormal. Update MB LED FW

Has anyone else been running into this issue with the MSI boards? I been through 2 boards already and it has been giving me this same issue. I'm ready to throw the dam thing out the window. Apparently I'm not the only one either from what I looked up on Google. Has anyone found a work around for this yet? Or do I have to return the board or get it fixed? It seems this happens every time I tried to daisy chain my cases M/B D-RGB 3 pin daisy chain male header into my MSI MAG 240r female header that is daisy chained and connected to jrainbow 2 port. I'm suspecting that I'm screwing up the LED firmware on the boards by doing this as the msi AIO fan rgb, mobo rgb were lighting up. When I connected them, the case rgb lit up but the AIO and mobo weren't anymore. Shut it off and turned it on and now nothing lights up besides the rgb ram sticks. Tried clear cmos, turn off and on rgb on mobo, unplugging and turning off and on power cord, and making sure the connections are all right. I'm also new to argb and daisy chaining so I would appreciate any input anyone has. I will be getting the phanteks rgb fan hub for the case lights and see if that makes them go on. Updated bios and everything i could think of under the sun. Also will a rgb fan hub be able to turn on all the rgb if its not connected to the mobo anymore? Checked all connections and they seem to be right but took photos so anyone can tell me if I missed something. B550 tomahawk, MSI MAG 240r AIO, AMD Ryzen 3700x, Kingston 3200 2 sticks of ram, Thermaltake 700w psu, case phanteks p360a.

I was also just told by Phanteks that my drgb controller may be defective as well. So Im probably bricking the LED FW on the Mobo by connecting the M/B DRGB cable into the female header of the MSI AIO 240 mag that is connected to the Mobo. Is this Mobo salvageable? Or did I just screw this up again and need to return the board or RMA it?

Hi. unfortunately i also have the problem now. i can't seem to find the files for a mpg z590 gaming edge wifi, maybe Alan can help with this one also? :D after i tried all the steps to reset, it seems it cant connect to the led controller, i hope i haven't ruined it

I have a Z490 meg ace with the FIRMWARE LED error and I can't find the original or old firmware on the motherboard, can anyone help me find the original "7C71" file? I can only find the 7C75 version

Is upon the Moderator Google Site

The ones available in the link are only 7C75 and 7C79 and both of them I have already tried to flash through Windows and it doesn't work even if I follow the step by step, the LEDs light up but the MSI MYSTIC LIGHT controller still doesn't work

In that case, it is a fail to write to Chip you will need to Contact MSI about an RMA

Hi everybody. Just subscribed. I'm sorry to write here since I have the same problem with my new pc. My mb is a MAG B650M Mortar Wifi. I reinstalled MSI center different times but no way. I get always this message. Do I have to shut down the pc and make that procedure to get the RGB working? I downloaded the program in the link below
but I'm not so good, I'm sure I'd create problems.... I shoud need a step by step help.
I'm really angry with that.

edit: FYI AMD Ryzen 9 7950x
Corsair DIMM 96 GB DDR5-5600 (2x 48 GB) Vengeance RGB
ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 Ti DUAL-O16G

Hi all,
I have a similar problem, on my MEG X570 ACE I tried solutions provided by Alan J T, thanks to him for his help which I saw in all the other topics
๐Ÿ˜Š
.
The difference for me is that the RGB LED of the motherboard stays on in blue.
What I did:
- Unplugged all jraimbow, all USB
- Clear CMOS having disconnected the power supply and waited one night. I use this video for help.
- Try MSI's LED software but "device not conected", no update in MSI center.
- Install Windows 10 and then Windows 11 again.
- When I turn off the LED control in the BIOS, the LED stays on on the motherboard. I use the last BIOS (1.0o 03/29/2024)
- The last thing I didn't dare to do was the jumper on pin #4 and #5 with the PC on as I read in another post, that scares me a little.
- Now, when I try to launch Mystic Light no longer launches...
I'm at the end of the ideas I can try, if you have a manipulation, even physical on the motherboard.

Thank you very much

Hi, I have the same LED firmware abnormal issue for MSI B550M Pro VDH WiFi
BIOS version: 2.K0 / 7C95 LED FW

Can you share the Firmware fix here in public? It's a common issue for some bad batches of this specific motherboard. And i hope it helps for others that will find this post in the future who still uses this board

MSI has a video that shows the LED FW fix. It's located here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MEG-Z690-GODLIKE/support#firmware
NOTE: The link above is for the Z690 Godlike. The process should be the same; however, I would check under your specific mobo "B550M Pro VDH WiFi" as there is a manual you can download as well.

I am currently at work; however, I will upload the necessary files whenever I get home tonight.

Thanks for the reply!, I've rechecked the support page for manual and the firmware page, sadly there's no LED FW manual on it. Uploading the firmware files for the fix should be good. I watched the video on "Troubleshoot 101: ....." from the top comments for fixing and seems working for many. I've been building a lot of PCs using this board and just got hit by one unlucky board but at least it's only LED FW issue and the board is perfectly working. Just no working RGB lights :(

Hi Alan J T, I have the same problem on my Z790 PRO GAMING Wifi. The LEDs worked for two days, we are talking about a new build. Now through MSI Center it reported to me that I have an abnormal LED firmware and through Live Update it does not detect any updates to be done. In MSI Center I cannot view the LED firmware currently installed. From Windows System I have the MS-7D93 version if it can help you. Could you share the correct led firmware to flash on the mobo via bios?
