Hi all,
Couple of problems, but I think only 1 is really an issue.... Firstly the fans don't spin even in games... is this normal?

The second issue is that I am getting well below average results when in timespy. I am in the bottom 1%! My gpu score is at 19500, whereas most score around 20000. I am not sure what to do!

My specs are 3950x, 32GB RAM, SSD PCIE4

as for your fans monitor temps and see is the GPU getting above 60C and do they kick on then or do they just stay off all the time?

the average in Timespy on a RTX 3090 is 19500 points so that is totally average also your CPU may be holding it back as most higher scores are done with a Intel CPU that has much higher CPU Clocks adding to the score.

what speed is your RAM as that may hold it back if its not very Fast?

Hi
I see nothing wrong. Graphics score is ~19500 which is what most of those 3090s achieve.
Similar result with slightly higher clocked GPU.

But again 20000 gpu score!! And when I overclock I get LOWER scores... surely this means the card is faulty? Or is it due to me having a 850w power supply!

Why does 20000 matter?

I think the real issue is your expectations. It seems like you expect that with a certain card you're just going to get the best or very high scores, but don't see 19500 as a high score......It is.
You bought a low end 3090. It's still a 3090, it still performs like one, but the cooling isn't that great. It works, but you're not going to be able to overclock it and have it perform incredibly well.

In the end, it's well known the RTX 3k series doesn't overclock well. We've known that for a while.

The card isn't faulty.
Your power supply is fine.

The faulty part is your expectations. Most people would be happy to have a 3090.
And here you are complaining because in a synthetic benchmark you think your score is too low.
