MEG X670E ACE - code 15 long boot times

I am not sure what I did, but I just built a new AM5 system with Corsair Dominator EXPO ram and it booted very fast yesterday.
Today I get about 45 second hang times with boot code 15, which is for the memory - "Pre-memory System Agent initialization is started"

I tried changing all BIOS settings back to default, turned EXPO on and off, and no matter what I am getting the slow boot times.

Any suggestions?

So I updated the BIOS, but still had the long boot times. I finally pulled the ram and reseated it in the exact same spots and it started booting fast again. 🤷

Ah the mysteries of PC hardware Perhaps one ram slot was not fully seated or had a speck of dust on one of the contacts. :confused2::confused2:

I am fairly confident that the slow boot up is the memory training (testing speeds and eventually picking one before actually booting). I was under the impression the training should only need to happen once and then boot normally without the delay. As of now, the training takes just under a minute, then another 20 seconds to get to windows login. I am using Corsair Dominator 64GB (2x32) EXPO ram.
Can anyone save me from this pain?

If this was 10-15 years ago, that amount of time would be acceptable. My old pc before this one I just built was into windows in 15 seconds.

Look in Bios for fast memory boot
and detect memory changed and disable both

Thanks for the tip. HOwever, my BIOS does not have a "Memory Fast Boot" option. The "Memory Changed Detect" didn't fix the problem, however while looking for fast boot, I found "Memory Context Restore"

Memory Context Restore -> Disabled ("DRAM re-retraining is avoided") fixed my slow [***CENSORED***] boot times. Instead of over a minute (closer to 85 seconds), down to about 30 seconds. Still slow in my opinion, but I guess that is the joys of adopting new platforms early.

What is odd, DISABLED fixed my issue, but when reading the description it seems like it should have been enabled.

Hmmm, the MEMORY FAST BOOT plot thickens...:beta::wall:

This is happening to a lot of people lately, myself included. It's interesting they changed the wording on the new boards...

It should be faster with it enabled because it's supposed to just remember the training results and bypass it, and only run again if something changes with your PC later on. But it seems the initial training isn't being handled properly, so disabling that feature is allowing full memory training to take place. Your system is so fast that allowing it to run through training every time isn't really that big of a deal. Sure it's a little slower, but it's better than being unstable. (Some of us can't even boot to the OS unless we disable it)

Have you had AMD before as that boot time is about on par for all previous AMD chips

I have Intel and AMD Systems Humm several laptops two Laptops One is Intel Series 11, one series 9, and one NUC Intel series 8, and a All in one Intel series 5, and My main Desktop AMD 5900x as well as two AMD Laptops 5000 Series and well the intell's all boots from push power button to windows login screen in less that 9 seconds And the three AMD systems all take between 20 to 30 seconds to reach Windows login screen

It has been several years since I had an AMD machine for myself. I built one about 2 years ago for a friend as well as one for work and I swear they both booted in 15 seconds.

So far, my biggest issue was the boot times. However, one other item that seems to happen every third boot up or so, is that the screen goes black right before the windows login screen pops up and I cant "wake" it and have to power down and reboot. Using an EVGA 2070 Super with current drivers. I have turned off integrated graphics in the BIOS. Next thing I will try over the weekend is different display port socket, then will try HDMI if it still happens, then use the USB-C out to DVI connection on the card as a last resort.

Sounds like the Nvidia drivers are crashing and it might be because nvme drives boot too fast. Try disabling "Fast Start Up" in Power Options. I'd also go poking around the Event Viewer to see if it logged anything when it happens ...

I don't know what you did with that 5900X desktop, but my 5900X system boots to windows in 7 seconds flat after pressing the power button :)

Did you find a solution to the problem yet ? A new BIOS update that fixes the slow boot times ? If not, i'll wait to buy the new 7000-series until they work out the kinks.
I'm not willing to spend all the cash on a system that boots slower than my 5900X (as mentioned above, 7 seconds from cold start)

Cheers !

Well do share your build and Bios setting we would like to be able to increase our Boot times so do share.
Just what you have done.

You want the BIOS settings for my 5900X system ? I'm a bit confused here..
(If that's the case, most people with a 5900X + M.2 drive boot to Windows between 7-15 secs)

In any case, my build :

-Tomahawk X570S Wifi
-R9 5900X
-32GB 3600mhz G.Skill Trident Z Neo
-3080 Ti FE
- 2x Gen4 M.2 NVMe Aorus 2TB

Fast boot enabled, onboard audio disabled (external DAC) and standard Windows 10. And that's it

Unable to find FastBoot in bios please provide screen shot.
I have identical board and CPU and can not find Fast boot besides the Memory Fast boot option
Also have Audio Off as well as LAN Disabled
Do not use XMP

And My OS Drive is far from slow
