Hi Folks,

Just purchased the above noted motherboard. Going to do a system build sometime next week. Will be running a Gen 12 I9 12900 CPU with it.
Normally, nobody in their right mind would run this hardware with Windows 8, I realize. But I have an unactivated copy of Windows 8 Pro 64 bit I'd like to load up initially, as it can get free upgrades to Win 10 and Win 11.

So in the manual, in the UEFI Bios section, there is topic "Incompatible UEFI cases". There it says that 32-bit OS's are not compatible, and goes on to say that "this motherboard only supports 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems."

With that said, anybody know if this motherboard would let me load up Windows 8 long enough to activate it, then upgrade it to Windows 10 or 11?

i would suggest you download the equivalent version of windows 10, use the tool to make a installer for another PC, make the USB drive with the installed Media on it, put that in the new PC then install windows 10 on it and use your windows 8 Key when it asks for a product key as it should just accept it as a genuine windows 10 key and then it will do a online activation and you should be good to go.
