The 3.5mm audio jack does not accept microphone input. I have checked the driver, deleted and re-booted, but still won't work. Mic input via USB does work.
Any replies or suggestions as to how to get it to work very welcome.
Thanks,
Tony

Yes, it is.
You've connected the MIC in combo jack here right?

Yes. Actually its from the phono output from the amplifier, I'm trying to find a microphone with a 3.5 jack. The usb-a port on the front works with my microphone.
Thanks

I did that already but when I tried to install it stopped after a while saying something like 'install failed'. However I didn't delete the original Realtek 2022 drivers.

After reboot it seems stuck at about 85% in 'Install Shield Wizard is now installing'. Then it says 'Install Realtek Audio Driver Failure [Error Code: 0x00000103]

Sorry Svet, but I have to go to bed now (nearly midnight). I'll catch up tomorrow morning to see if you have any suggestions. If this fails, would a USB to RCA Phono lead work? Either USB C or A.
Thanks for your help.
Night night,

Did seem to install ok.

super

. 'No input devices found'.

That's some common error.
Try tips from here for now that worked for others:
no audio input device detected

Have a good rest. :emot-tip-wink:

Unfortunately none of the common solutions on the web worked apart from opening the case to check the internal jack connections.

The trouble seems to be that the realtek input is described in Win 11 as for the headphones only and does not recognise it as a microphone input as well.

Is there any difference between a microphone proper and an input from the phono RCA outputs from an amplifier?

Finally, could anyone advise me as to whether an RCA to USB-A or USB-C cable would work as a means of input?

Thanks,
Tony

Just found my Sony stereo microphone with the 3.5mm jack. When plugged in to the combo socket, and troubleshoot common sound problems for input devices then select 'Realtek (R) Audio' it just says 'The device does not appear to be plugged in. Check the connection, plug in the device, then click next'. The troubleshooter does not fix the problem.

Any ideas?
Thanks
Tony

Finally I recognised that I was trying to do something impossible. I was trying to output analog sound from the amplifier to the digital input of the Cubic 5 computer. I would need a complex analog to digital converter with a conversion from an optical output from the converter to a usb-c plug. Far simpler and cheaper to attach an external USB DVD/CD drive to do what I wanted. So, apart from the fact that the microphone won't work in the combo socket, I've solved the problem.

Thanks for all the help in trying to find a solution, albeit impossible to find! Perhaps someone will benefit from my failure to think clearly at first.

Tony
