Microphone volume issue

Hello, I have this issue where my microphone just goes to garbage as soon as I plug in a pair of headphones. I have an MSI Gf65 Thin 9sd laptop, and the microphone on it is perfectly fine when I use it. However, when I plug in my MSI H991 Headset, the microphone volume all just goes to crap. My friends can't hear me, I try and troubleshoot it and the volume is literally at 0% when I speak, and it's only at 4% when I take off the headset and put my mouth directly to the microphone. I've used Nahimic Microphone boosts, I've turned of microphone effects directly in the microphone itself and inside windows settings, I can't change the settings on the microphone in the Realtek Audio Console because whenever I try, it just doesn't save the changes I've made. Can someone please help me with this issue? It's been plaguing me for years.
