Hi! After 2 mins working in Windows11 it shows a pop up with this message: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Toolkit.Uwp.Notifications. It is something about OneDC_Updater but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestion?

I'm experiencing a similar issue on my GE76 running Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100 and MSI Center 2.0.48.0. The issue started soon after the latest MSI Center update. I Xed out the PublickKeyToken as I don't know if it's specific to my laptop.
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Toolkit.Uwp.Notifications, Version=7.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxxx' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'Microsoft.Toolkit.Uwp.Notifications, Version=7.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxx' at OneDC_Updater.MainWindow.<Window_Loaded>d__13.MoveNext()

OneDC_Updater
The OneDC_Updater is part of the MSI Center. Which version of the MSI Center have you installed?
MSI Center 2.0.48.0
In the Microsoft Store is still 2.0.47. And this version has problems with Mystic Light and that I have more than one account (Administrator and a Standard User).
My OS is Win 11 Pro 23H2 - Just as information. Don't know if it makes a difference.
Just now I am downloading 2.0.48 from a German site.
Will be back after installing it.

Back on my Linux System.
Booted Windows 11 Pro. Installed the 2.0.48 version of the MSI Center.
The Game Bar and the Mystic Light feature sets got also updates.
No problems found.
The Mystic Light feature still behaves a bit strange. But it works and I can change the settings if I want. If somebody wants to know what I mean with "behaves a bit strange" ...
This needs a own post.

Code:
System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Toolkit.Uwp.Notifications,
Version=7.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=xxxxxxxxxx' or one of its
dependencies.
Googling this gets me two results:
This Thread and a thread on Stack Overflow. But this thread is 15 years old. :wall:
For me it is clear that this is a .... error with the "Microsoft NET Framework".
Either it is not installed or is not installed correctly. Please check if you have the NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows installed.

This is what i have installed from the NET Framework. Sorry is only a picture so you need to google the names by yourself.

Hello, I just turned on my new Stealth 14 Studio A13VF and received the same error message.
What is going on? Should I return this thing right now while i still can?

I also am having problems with Mystic Light after downloading update from MS. No keyboard support with it. I hate these flashing keys! Now this error.

I hate these flashing keys!
Why did you buy it then?
Please check if you have the NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows installed.
Did you check? Maybe uninstall the Frameworks and reinstall it.

Mystic Light is a part of the MSI Center and the MSI Center is known as a problematic software.
Fix your errors with the Frameworks first. The MSI Center needs it to work properly. Before it makes no sense to try fixing the MSI Center.

The keyboard on your laptop is controlled by Steelseries software, not Mystic light

Then ShawnBBoivi15f002e5 should maybe open a new thread about this.
I don't know if Steelseries software also relays on the NET Framework but chances are high. First fixing the Framework and then solve the other problem should be the right approach.

Thank you for the (single) respectful reply.

According to the MSI Mystic lights manual that came with the laptop it does indeed control the Keyboard and it gives detailed easy to follow instructions on exactly how to use it.
The problem is the "Option" to open the keyboard lighting disappeared after updating to the new version that can only be downloaded from Microsoft (Oddly).
Mystic lights worked very well easily managing the keyboard lighting for a few days before the update. Now the keys just twinkle individually like a child's toy.

The error that I questioned here also began after the update, so yes, it is indeed an appropriate question for the thread in spite of some other inappropriate responses.

The error (as noted) went away after removing Mystic Lights but also the keyboard control went away.

So I will take the earlier advice given that it is a problem with .net and or MSI and contact MSI for some real help.

Why did I buy it?

It is a so called "Studio" laptop. I bought it for mobile use with Davinci Resolve because the specs and cooling are awesome.
Which by the way works wonderfully with 4070 and the Studio drivers from Nvidia.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

can only be downloaded from Microsoft
You mean the MSI Center? I know other download links.
MSI changes the MSI Center code often and the result can be that the MSI Center or some of the Feature Sets stop working or work not as expected.
Version 2.0.47 no Mystic Light on my Laptop. 2.0.48 it is back.
disappeared after updating to the new version
Which one?

No, MSI Center and its default preloaded features work just fine.

You are likely aware Mystic Lights is not a default feature in MSI Center and requires an additional download to activate it.

It is only after installing (activating) Mystic Lights that the error is throw up after every reboot.

I am aware.
MSI decided to create a (eierlegende Wollmilchsau) egg-laying, wool-giving and milk-producing sow. A jack of all trades. The result is a mess. The MSI Center is a chimera, parts of the software are UWP (Universal Windows Program - this is what you download from the store) and parts (most additional Feature Sets) are WinPE (Windows Pure Executable).
In some way you can compare a UWP with the APPs which you download / install on your phone. No runtime environment is needed its included.
A PE on the other side needs a runtime environment (DLLs and such stuff) which is not included. If a PE misses a DLL it trows a error.
The NET Frameworks are such runtime environments. DirectX is another example.

Long story short.
It is only after installing (activating) Mystic Lights that the error is throw up after every reboot.
Your additional download misses parts of the necessary runtime environment.

That error usually indicates a missing or corrupted dependency, likely related to OneDC_Updater or a Windows notification component. Try reinstalling or updating the affected software, ensuring Windows 11 is fully updated, and running sfc /scannow in the command prompt to check for system file issues. If the problem persists, you might need to repair or reinstall .NET dependencies. For businesses dealing with complex integrations and automation, Microsoft Power Platform Development Services can help streamline workflows and resolve compatibility challenges efficiently.

Try reinstalling or updating the affected software
The corrupted or missing component is in one of the NET Frameworks.
OneDC_Updater
This is part of the MSI Center.
He can install, reinstall ... the MSI Center as often as he wants.
It will not fix the error.
A install, reinstall of the necessary Framework version will fix it.

As I suspected, this issue was likely related to the previous version of MSI Center 2.0.48.0. I just updated my laptop to MSI Center 2.0.50.0 and this error message no longer comes up at startup. It "appears" to have been fixed in the latest release.

I still stand my ground. It is not a error in the MSI Center. It is Net Framework related.
I have Win 10 23H2 and Win 11 23H2 on my Laptop. MSI Center 2.0.48.0 on both systems. No errors.
In the February Windows Updates was a new NET version.
NET 9.0 Update - February 11, 2025 (KB5052979)

MSI Center 2.0.50.0
Thank you. Need to look for it.

I too had exactly the same issue. I got completely fed up with it and I used MSI Cleanmaster tool to delete version 2.0.48.0. I then found version 2.0.50.0 downloaded it and ran the program. I too can confirm that the error message that previously came up at startup, no longer appears.

NET 9.0 Update - February 11, 2025 (KB5052979)

I would just like to add, I am currently running NET 8.0.13. I see now that the latest version is NET 9.0.2
I see from your post, you are running Win 23H2 on your laptop. I am running Win 24H2. I don't know if the issues had any bearing on which version of Windows 11 was being run, but I definitely had issues with MSI Center 2.0.48.0 regarding the pop up box. As I stated above, since downloading 2.0.50.0 the error message no longer appears.

Confirmed gentleman.
Had the same issue. Suddenly it started appearing, for no reason. Appears that .Net was fully updated, but the error persisted.
Deleted Msi Center completely. Downloaded the newest version from the msi website. Not error after reboot.

Agreed, pop up box regarding .NET Framework issue now resolved on my laptop with the release of MSI Center 2.0.50.0
