Might buy MSI Claw 8 AI+ have questions

Hello, I've been looking at a lot of handheld pc's and I'm thinking of buying the Msi Claw 8 ai+ because I want an 8in screen, but a friend tells me the
console is over a year old and new ones will be out very soon.

Is this true? should I hold off buying one right now because it might be obsolete in 1-2 months?
I'd appreciate your input on this.
