I just got a p43 neo3-f board and have been dissapointed to find it only allowed 417 fsb,after which nothing but bluescreens and lockups on entering windows occur.my chip will definitely go beyond 417, and is able to get to that point with low volts 1.26 and runs cool.Increasing cpu volts,mem,vtt,or mchhave zero effecton this wall..Ive tried  bios version 1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3,and 1.4.It seemed that more options available in 1.3 and 1.4 but they were even worse for stability and none break beyond 417 fsb. It would seem very underwhelming for a p43 or p45 chipset to do so poorly.I wish more bios were available. anyone know where to look? links?,are the bios for the platinum series or other p45 models interchangeable? Any help appreciated, ive spent days trying every concieveable options in the bios and cell menu to no avail. Feed back from anyone with same issue or if you have gotten better results is most welcome. my board uses the ms-7514 bios and is pcb v 1.0.

my specs in brief are msi p43 neo3-f rev 1.0, E6400 cpu, 2 samsung sp0812c 80gig in raid 0 on jmicron controller, 2gigs gskill ddr 800, palit 8800gt sonic 1 gig card, 400 watt pwr supply with 20 amps on single rail.

cpu currently at 3.34gig on 1.26v ,mem 2.0v, all other volt settings on auto. idles at 36-40c

skip741, if you need help and advice regarding overclocking settings, please open a thread in this part of the forum ...

https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?board=27.0

If you decide to do so, please provide FULL system specifications (read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of what we need to know) and make a list of ALL(!) Cell Menu Settings you have tried so far.

are the bios for the platinum series or other p45 models interchangeable?

No, you should under no circumstances try to flash a BIOS that was released for another P4x board unless you want to kill your system.

anyone know where to look?

There are two more recent BIOS Version I can upload if you want to test them:

-> A7514IMS.151 [v1.5B1, Release Date: August 20th 2008, based on v1.40 (official)]
-> A7514IMS.P09 [v25.0B9, Release Date: July 11th 2008, "Performance"-BIOS]

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Changelogs of these Files.

Jack, thank you for such prompt response.I have tried abt every possible variation within the cell menu but I think i will try another thread asking overclock advice from those more experienced with the msi cell options. If you Do have those 2 experimental bios for my board, I would love a chance to try them.If you would upload, i will test and give you feed back on each. its ok if you dont have the changelogs. I will also ty giving MSI  tech support an email with my system specs and the issue im having to see if they have any suggestions.I really like the board,its build and quality and would rather keep it than have to return.Im not seeking extreme overclocks,id be very happy even with 425 to 450 fsb from this board. again ur help is most appreciated

these are the bios i am refferring to:  -> A7514IMS.151 [v1.5B1, Release Date: August 20th 2008, based on v1.40 (official)]
-> A7514IMS.P09 [v25.0B9, Release Date: July 11th 2008, "Performance"-BIOS]

Hay, ive got the exact same problem with the p43 neo believe there identical apart from cooling on motherboard,anyway  I will hit 417/418 fsb and will become totally unstable and freeze on me(while using dual core centre) or if using bios overclocking will reboot until it goes back to defaults, have also tried everything voltage wise, have dropped multipliers and it is definitely a motherboard fsb wall issue.

even tried putting a fan over northbridge to cool as seems to run very hot(is now just warm too touch so ok),but makes no difference to overclocking and is annoying hell outta me, as i bought an e8200 to specifically overclock and best i can get stable is 3300

anyways maybe with a few of us they will fix the problem

@craigthaagensen:

same problem with the p43 neo believe there identical apart from cooling on motherboard

The P43 Neo3-F [MS-7514, v1.x] and the P43 Neo(-F) [MS-7519. v1.x] are not identical.  Under no circumstances should you even consider to flash any of the BIOS-Versions posted in this thread (which is about the P43 Neo3-F, not about the P43 Neo) onto your board (unless you want to render it useless).

craigthaagensen, please do not hijack this thread and start your own topic to discuss your problems (Read the >>Posting Guide<< before you do so and provide FULL system specs. Provide a full overview of the settings you have tried.) Thank you.

@skip741:

I will upload the BIOS Files I mentioned earlier. Use them at your own risk! Both of them have BETA Status.  If I find changelogs, I will add the Info eventually.

Jack, i just tested the 2 bios and had no trouble with them flashing properly.Now for the news, there was zero difference in that wall i spoke of at 417fsb. Neither bios would clock even 1 mhz beyond that point.Again I tried raising volts in the cell for cpu,mem,vtt mch ect, yet nothing allowed me to go past that point.What a pity,so nice a board,with all the basic overclocking essentials there too.I tried contact via email with MSI tech support, spent an hr filling out form with required specific info, and gave a very detailed description of the problem, only to recieve a generic response saying they recommend I ask the forum for overclocking advice! This problem is not a matter of cell settings or tweaks,it is a limitation of board or bios, perhaps both that hinders severely what this chipset should do. I read Craigs post and Ill bet its a similiar problem that affects his board as well. BUT i agree with ur sound advice Jack, that the problem may sound similiar yet the boards are 2 separate models, and certainly do NOT  try the flash with anything thats for my specific board. At this point I dont know what else to do,except return the board and choose another brand. Im shocked that MSI tech would not even offer advice, an alternate bios or anything other than telling me to ask forum for help.i have abt another week to use this board b4 i have to send it back.Ill still be looking for any possible solution. Thanks for ur help jack, if you come across any answers, ill be checking this thread
