Monitor not found when connecting to laptop

I'm trying to connect my HP laptop 15s-fq5xxx to MSI pro mp341cqw monitor. I'm connecting via HDMI, why is it saying display not found? Monitor is just showing a black screen.

Did display settings in windows detect any additional monitor? and is auto scan on? or the input source had been changed to HDMI?
Also, I'd definitely test the monitor on other device and see if laptop can be the culprit.
