Hi,

I bought this monitor a few days ago, it has reached 24 hours of use and has prompted me to do a panel protect.

The issue is that once done the monitor after a minute asks me to do it again and I am stuck in this loop, the app gaming intelligence from msi had a pop up after the protect to tell me the panel was refreshed but it still prompted me to do another about one minute after.

Things I have tried,

Made sure windows is not turning off the monitor or putting it to sleep, to further make sure, I disconnected the pc and only had the monitor with power but the same outcome was had.

I did a full protect and left it for 10 minutes before turning back on, I unplugged the monitor for 15 minutes and tried again but no luck.

I let it do it in stand by, auto and then initiated it manually.

I downloaded gaming intelligence and let it run through the app popup .

I turned off all power saving, ultra low power mode and all oled care features but no luck.

I downloaded the monitor driver on the monitors support page but no issue, I installed this through device manager.

Outside of this the monitor works flawlessly without issue but since it has hit 24 hours I cannot continue to use the monitor as it forces it in to panel protect .

I'm running into the same issue with the MPG 272URX. It's ridiculous that this has been happening with a variety of MSI monitors since early 2024. I wasn't aware of that or I would've just stuck with Asus. I did finally get my OLED care process to finish (well idk if it finished or if I just finally got it to stop asking me to do it), but it took me over an hour of messing with the monitor during a time I was supposed to be working. I might just save myself the future headaches and return it for an Asus vs RMAing it.

I had the same excat problems with my MSI MPG 271QRDE QD-OLED X50
I followed the steps suggested by MSI support on the phone:
  • Performed a firmware update (already had the newest, but updated it to the same).
  • Then after it finished, dont click anything and completely powered off the monitor (unplugged it from power).
After that, the issue seems to be resolved. The panel protect / screen cleaning process now completes properly, and the completion message is correctly sent to the PC via USB.
For context, I had already tried several things before:
  • - Reinstalling the firmware multiple times
  • - Reinstalling Gaming Intelligence
  • - Running Panel Protect manually
However, I never fully power-cycled the monitor right after the firmware update.
It looks like that was the actual fix.

For now, it’s working as expected, but I will keep monitoring it!

I also did what Leon did. It fixed the panel protect issues. I still have other issues with the monitor, but the panel protect works as it should now at least. In the update manual it says to only have one monitor plugged in via DP when doing the update. I'm guessing because some of the updates must affect the HDMI port until reboot or something. How ever it DOES NOT say anything about rebooting when done. smh.
