[MPG 491CQP QD-OLED] No Image / Power LED Off - Detected via USB-C only - Requesting MCU Firmware or fix

I’m seeking help with my MSI MPG 491CQP QD-OLED monitor. It suddenly stopped displaying any image, and the Power LED is completely off (no white or orange light).
Shipping this 49-inch beast for RMA is extremely difficult for me logistically, so I’m looking for a software-side solution or an MCU firmware update that might "wake it up."

The Situation:
• The monitor is NOT detected via USB Type-B to Type-A.
• The Breakthrough: When connected via USB Type-C to Type-C, the monitor is recognized by Windows and MSI Gaming Intelligence app.
• I can trigger "Panel Protect" via the app. During the process, the LED blinks as usual, but after it finishes, the screen remains black and the LED turns off again.
• The official website only provides Scaler Firmware, which didn't help. I suspect the MCU (Microcontroller) is stuck in a loop.

Steps I have already taken:
1. Hard Reset: Unplugged all cables (Power, DP, HDMI, USB) for 12+ hours and held the power button for 30 seconds.
2. Cable Swap: Tried different Power cables.
3. Firmware Attempt: Checked for updates in Gaming Intelligence, but only Scaler FW is available.
4. Panel Maintenance: Successfully ran Panel Protect cycles via the app (LED blinks), but no image follows.

My Request:
Is there a way to obtain the MCU Firmware file and a tool to flash it manually via the USB-C connection? Or is there a specific "Deep Reset" service code/combination to force the Scaler to wake up?

Any help to avoid a physical RMA would be greatly appreciated.

Other than the hard reset you mentioned, usually MSI recommends to hold the navikey, unplug monitor, plug it back, release navikey to reset monitor.
If it's not helping, i have no other suggestion than RMA :( especially since you mention the power LED is not even on anymore.

That sounds really sad and weird. What if this happens again after the RMA? The Power LED actually works, but only while Panel Protect (launched via Gaming Intelligence) is running. After it's done, though, the LED goes out and stops responding again.

Try installing the Gaming Intelligence app

If this isn't related to the app,
please read the manual and try it.

Since you mention it works before then stops all the sudden, we can rule out the possibility of compatibility problem. They must test the unit before sending back so I wouldn't worry too much unless your problem is related to your specific configuration which is very unlikely.

I still can use app and update FW. But my screen is total black (using remote desktop for it)

Here's how it works:

Here's how it works:
Go to Windows Settings,
then go to System, then Display,
and try adjusting the display resolution.
Try setting it to 1920×1080.

The issue is nowhere near a resolution problem. The monitor is completely unresponsive even without HDMI/DP cables. There is no splash logo screen and the power LED remains off.

Then use a different monitor.
Or buy a new monitor.
If you still have compensation funds left, try getting it repaired.

Most probably is a hardware failure, if all sudden stop working and factory reset doesn't helps.

The PSU is integrated inside the monitor, so you can't test with another compatible and suitable Power brick.
(despite the PSU shows a signs of partially working)
[in any cases, do not open the monitor, this will void warrantee]

But here what else you can try before RMA:
* If you use a power strip, remove it and connect it directly to the outlet.
* Else Try a different outlet in a different room
* Remove any surge protectors (from power strip or any external devices if you use such)
* Make sure the outlet is in proper condition
(proper grounded and without all of the rest possible outlet's wiring issues,
you can use a "Socket Tester" to diagnose this)

* Ensure the voltage from the outlet is in expected range, or at least 220V, [ensure it's within 220V-240V range]
any drops below that for sensitive electronics may cause to unable to power up due to too low voltage.
If needs or if you suspect electric network issue, you can try a UPS.
(or call a certified electrician or your electricity company)

I tried everything. It seems his brains just got messed up during the Panel Protect.

I was hoping that MSI support would give me an MCU update and the monitor would start working again. But they wrote me some nonsense.

Oh, so I'll have to send the monitor by mail. And I was hoping there was an easier solution.

You mean you got this issue after running Panel Protect?

Got it. At least you are sure that need to repaired/fixed at service.
It won't be send and receive for no reason.

And I was hoping there was an easier solution.

If it's a hardware issue like it looks like, there is no other way.

It seems that's the case. I can't think of any other reason for the problem. I've also seen a few similar issues, but there were no solutions for them. Plus, the power LED only lights up during a forced Panel Protect.

So I don't think it's a hardware issue; I think it's a software issue.
