I just updated my BIOS to the latest 7D40vAD, and audio quit working. The Realtek driver no longer appears in the Win11 sound control panels. It's not visible in the Device Manager unless you "Show Hidden Items" and in that case the OS lists it as an unconnected device. There are tons of threads about this problem, here and on Reddit, but no apparent resolution.

I've already tried,
- reinstalling the Realtek drivers
- downgrading the bios back to AC
- disabling/enabling the audio engine in the bios
- CMOS reset via the mobo jumper

What's the next move here?

That seems wrong, not in sequence with the others for B760i edge wifi. (But maybe you have a slightly different mobo?)

The version I got from Alan J T was E7D40IMS.AE2.

Just updated to E7D40IMS.1H0 BIOS, problem still here, still no audio
Make sure to flash back to the previous working BIOS first

The second-to-last bios released in 2023 will be the one you want

Flashing to this BIOS will not void the warranty

Roll back to the last working bios and then update the BIOS with the Svet BIOS update tool. This has worked for a few people so far without the need for the other patched Bios to be used.
Download the tool from the link:

Hello, can I get the same BIOS to fix the no sound issue in Windows 11? I currently have the latest BIOS 7D40vAF 2026-04-07, and my motherboard is an MPG B760I EDGE WIFI.

Roll back to one that worked and then update to the newest one using the forum flashing tool that is linked a couple of posts above.

The latest is the AF, try the AD one and see if your sound works. If it does then use the forum flasher to go back to AF

It didn't work! I did everything as you described, but the audio device still doesn't appear in Windows 11.
I also tried flashing older BIOS versions, but the audio device still doesn't appear.

Probably going to have to RMA the board if you want onboard audio. You can also just buy a sound card if you don't want the hassle of the RMA.
