Until AMD decides to "unlock" this limitation, it's really not up to MSI to whether it is okay to open the option or not. I do know few ASUS motherboard enables vcore offset for 5800X3D, can't really say if it's "Legal" though.
There's a couple other threads where this has been discussed. There's quite a few people apologizing for MSI for leaving this feature locked. Lots of claims that it's due to AMD not allowing it and that it would cause chaos when motherboard companies will get blamed for AMD RMAs if something goes wrong.
I honestly don't get it. First why so many people think undervolting is dangerous, but more importantly why MSI would also be against it. The worst that could happen is you would get an unstable system if you wen too far and would need to reboot. They can also flash up all sorts of warnings and disclaimers about how "dangerous" it is, just like they do with overclocking, if they wanted.
It's not like it's stopping me either. I'm just using PBO2 tuner and applying a -30 to all the cores. Works fine and drops my temps over 10C. Trouble is, that's the lowest I can go with that software. It's also manual and needs to be done every time I boot.
I'm really hoping this is just a mistake on MSI's part and they open it up. I put in a ticket a couple weeks ago and it was subsequently closed with a note that the info was passed onto the appropriate team. There's no indication they will do anything about it so I'm not holding my breath. I'm giving it another month before I give up and potentially switch motherboards. Sounds tedious but I'd rather have voltage control of my CPU, especially since I plan on keeping this setup for another 2 years.
I remember reading a comment on a reddit post just the other day, mentioning that MSI is planning on allowing vcore manipulation in their next agesa update. So.... maybe there's something to it?
