Hello. I hope someone can help. I built my system a week ago and other then this issue rearing its head everything has been working very well indeed.

I find that on every second or third boot into Windows 11 my M2_2 NVME, Samsung 990 Pro 2TB is not detected. The primary M2_1, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB containing the OS, is always detected fine. I tried booting into the bios 5 times last night and the 990 Pro always shows, possibly ruling out a slot connectivity issue?

I'm more inclined in believing this is a BIOS bug or a problem with the 990 Pro SSD.

MSI is aware of the M.2 problem and waiting on AMD for a Fix to the Bios code
This problem is being experienced by several manufacturers and the fix has to be implemented by AMD

For now, I would recommend Rolling back to BIOS 1.0.0.7c if you can without out additional problems that were fixed in later BIOS versions.

Same problem here with Msi mpg b650 carbon, and my Samsung 990 pro on m2_1.
With a fresh windows install it will show up for then disappear on windows after rebooting pc(on bios I still can see my 990), my samsung 980 on m2_2 work fine…

Thanks Alan, it’s reassuring to know MSI is aware and they are waiting for AMD to get the fix. Helps calm the mind a little. Let’s hope AMD do this soon!

I can't find it in Samsung Magician either, lists 3B2... as the latest.

For me it was available via Samsung SSD Magician:

Same for me now too. They're doing the updates in waves. I should've known, they did it similar with other SSD models in the past.

Exactly the same board and problem with M2_1. Random loss of my Windows disk Samsung 980Pro 1TB. Happens once per 2 or 3 days from a cold boot. This problem has been there for almost a year :D Weather MSI has not enough engineers in that department or their business focus is somewhere else.

Thanks for the information.
Is there any information yet when AMD will release the bug fix version? Still this year?

Does not work for me either. My 990 PRO 2TB in the M2_2 slot of my MPG X670E carbon Wifi is still not detected half of the times even with this new Samsung firmware and this new AMD chipset driver.
It is starting to become ridiculous.

I removed 990 PRO 1TB (which has detection problems in M2_1 and M2_2) like 2 - 3 months ago and replaced it with 980 PRO 1TB (had less detection problems, but still had it) and currently the AMD chipset driver did the trick... will see how it goes after a month.

Update. After around 10 days I had the first random Windows boot fail, but it wasn't your typical M2_1 / M2_2 bug; Windows kind of booted up to the Windows user login screen and failed - black screen. Have to wait for the latest bios v1.1 whenever it arrives...
