MPG X670E CARBON WIFI (Late start and When restarting windows the bios orange light stays on.)

I have Bios version 7D70v1J3 (beta version). The boot time was much longer before. With this version the system boots a bit better, but again after waiting 15-20 seconds at startup the keyboard lights up and the system boots. I don't mind this, my biggest problem is below.

When I try to reboot the computer while Windows is open, or when the computer reboots after an update, the system hangs. When I reboot, the Bios orange light is on and the motherboard LED indicator says 00 and stays there. I have to press and hold the power button, turn off and restart.

Is this a common problem?

MAINBOARD: MPG X670E CARBON WIFI
CPU: AMD R7 7800X3D
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2x16) 6000MHz DDR5 CL30 CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K

As a workaround for the freeze during the restart on the Corsair Vengeance RGB, I've had success with using the EXPO profile, but reducing the frequency of the ram to 5800. I do not consider this a solution, though.

Try other ram. I got this issue back in Oct, 2022. Switching from G.Skill to Kingston solved it. I can recall some of Corsair kits got the same issue back then.
The sticks are not at fault for either the freezing during restart, or the long delay during boot. This is my second set of Corsair RAM for this build, and I had issues with other (Viper) ram too (though that had a speed that was likely too high).

If other motherboards can support the RAM, then why blame the RAM?

I tried updating to the new 7D70v1J that came out a couple weeks ago. Now whenever I reboot my system from windows it hangs on debug code 0d with the orange led. Have to turn the system off and back on again to get it to boot. It was happening both with "optimized settings" and my own custom bios settings on my 7700X. Reverting back to bios version 7D70v1F stopped the issue.
It sucks that a particularly bad security vulnerability that msi created is now patched, but only in a broken bios. People have been reporting issues with the 1J bioses for over a month now and nothing has gotten fixed. It seems like every new bios version is more broken/buggy than the last.

I think it is more AMD's bug. I tried ASUS boards and got the same issue one year ago. As some point, I believe this issue has been fixed by bios update. Right now, it seems to come back again.

I use my ram at 4800Mhz with EXPO turned off. While this way, the boot time is shortened and there is no stuttering problem on reboot. I hope this situation will improve in the future. Problems start when I get 6000Mhz EXPO.

You are not allone having that led. I looked it up and it seems that the UEFI has problems with the CPU. Not much we can do about that. I hope somebody from MSI is working on this to solve this.

Reported CPU's we have right now are
AMD Ryzen 9950X, 7700X, 7800X3D,...

Bios:
I see that there has been an update after I updated to the latest on the 2024-08-08.
Bios files
latest version is form 2024-08-13
na still the same new build with X670E gaming wifi ryzen 9 7900x3d same hang at boot and usb and bluetooth drops still

I have endured it for two years, bullshit, reboot hang with led 00.
7950x, 7900xtx
yeh mine just hangs 1st boot of the day with red and orange lights for 20 to 30 secs then boots to windows fine stay on day and night fine, just constant usb and blue-tooth restarts anywhere from 10 to 20 mins or 4 to 8 hrs no rhyme or reason other than i feel like resetting. and from what i seen it only seems to be x670e boards with 7000 cpu's ? good luck to anyone who is buying into x870e lol
after 1st boot if i have to reset for updates it just hangs on orange light as if it constantly needs to train the memory i knew i should have stuck with 2 sticks but i didn't like the gap in board lol

This morning I had a USB that could not be formatted. After trying to repair it, the software dived in to an MS blue screen about the drive. I did a hard shutdown and looked at the bios. I had everything involved with the memory turned off when I flashed it. It seems that bios enabled the expo icon on the top itself. For me, bios looks very buggy. It should and keeps working on default.

Got my computer restarting now. Don't know if the first step was in portent to solve it, but anyway I am telling you.
- Removed self enabled optional features of windows (virtualization and sandbox)
- Go to "troubleshoot and other" (see picture), then run the "Windows update" troubleshooter
- Closed open programs and run it again.
- Restart the computer

And it worked for me. I hope it helps! After the reboot run the troubleshooter again, and it looks I still have a Windows update issue but check for pending restart is gone.

Then I went to Windows services and set the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" to automatic and started it. Run the troubleshooter again. The service is solved now, but the update issue remains.

When I go to update history, I have a list of updates. I know I have issues with the latest framework installed in August, like I told here before. Should I uninstall everything in this list??

The answer is yes, you need to uninstall those updates. But first be sure you installed these bios 7D70v1I, and you didn't disable windows automatic updates.

Then uninstall the last 3 updates (KB5042099, KB5027397 and KB5041855) in that screenshot I have you before. Restart windows and let windows rest for a couple of minutes before you log in. It will automatically reinstall the files until we are sure what the problem is.

I checked the memory and the disk, but nothing was found. After restart, open cmd with admin rights and do.

C:\Windows\System32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Now you can remove those updates again. I have only one update left (KB5041855). So the last update was corrupted, but will remove the KB5041585 too and reboot. Windows is initializing and reinstalling the updates.

Do the check again in "sfc /scannow" (see above). If its goose well, it should not find any integrity violations any more.

Now it's time to do a component check.

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22621.3880]

C:\Windows\System32>dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.22621.2792

Image Version: 10.0.22621.3880

[==========================100.0%==========================] No component store corruption detected.
The operation completed successfully.

Now update your software in cmd with admin rights with this command

Winget upgrade --all

Good luck!

all i know is everything is working fine for now finger crossed hop this might help people waiting to see if latest bios fixed anything good luck guys and girls

*Thanks to frank.luckenbil158c02e6, I seem to have avoided a major problem. Here's what I've done.

Motherboard: MPG X670E CARBON WIFI
Bios version: 7D70v1O2(Beta version) 2025-04-29
  • - I activated EXPO profile 1.
    - I enabled Memory Context Restore.
    - I set Power Down mode to Enabled.
    - I configured CPU NB/SoC Voltage to Override Mode.
    - I manually adjusted the voltage value to 1.20V.
After making these BIOS settings, it took a while for the system to boot up.
However, now when I reboot, the system starts up quickly without freezing or long delays.
Previously, after Windows updates requiring a restart, I was experiencing issues. Now, the system boots normally after restart.
