Flashed 7E49v1A8 - AGESA PI pre-1.3.0.0
When I change my memory to Expo 1, it retrains on every reboot. Memory context recall is on AUTO. Previous BIOS versions only trained once when switched to Expo on initial boot.

I switched back to default JEDEC and it trained once and worked as before on subsequent boots.

I don't want to force on context recall if it isn't doing it automatically. Anyone else notice this issue with retraining after every reboot after applying Expo memory timings.

Hi, I'm on the same board and BIOS version, but I haven't run into the constant retraining issue myself. It sounds like the Auto setting for Memory Context Restore isn't behaving correctly with your specific kit on this AGESA build.
You could try to manually set Memory Context Restore to Enabled instead of leaving it on Auto. When you do that, make sure you also find Power Down Enable and set it to Enabled as well. On AM5, these two settings usually need to be synced to avoid instability or blue screens when skipping the training process.
If your EXPO profile was stable before, forcing it to Enabled should just tell the board to skip the training and use the saved parameters. The board has its own safety nets, so if it ever fails to boot, it will still trigger a manual retrain anyway. It's definitely worth a try to get your boot times back to normal.

Yes it was stable for a year so I'll try that. Thank you.

MSI is real slow with bios updates unfortunatly. I think Mix mode would help a lot with my 4 dimm setup but I cant test it as of yet. Sometimes I wish I got a different brand mobo.
Don't know if it is in the overclock menu .I did not look at it yet still testing the PCI 5.0 bug. It is will working it beed over a week now. Neat week will look at the ram stuff.

Just a update I went through the bios it seems that there is no option for memory options.

I'm no longer able to boot off any USB sticks with the 1A80 BIOS. I just found out today. I can see the USB drive in Windows and I can save and write to it and I can see it within the BIOS and save profiles to it but it won't boot from it even if I turn secure boot off because Rufus warned me that the certificates in the image of windows I have from Microsoft are now revoked which is why I turned secure boot off but no go... My 12 year old g15 keyboard and mouse are also recognized and work... So legacy support seems to be there but why do the drive not work. They worked in A63 (last one I had). I just get a blank screen... waited a couple minutes and then shut down by holding button in.

Also ran into an issue when downloading the 1A80 where the hash didn't match, so I downloaded it again and it matched. One of their servers must have a bad file on it. Something seems sketchy about that because I've never download a file from MSI where the hash didn't match. Minor oversight or malicious? I no longer have the other file so I can't verify if the hash matched the other guys "bad" hash on this forum. If they match, that may point to a corrupt copy at best or a malicious copy on their servers. I know a lot of people don't even check the hash but I ALWAYS do. 😕

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that there is a new AMD chipset driver out, version 8.01.20.513. I just installed it on my MSI board running Windows 11 Pro 25H2 and everything went smoothly. You can just install it directly over the old one without any issues. It does not affect the GPU drivers at all so no worries there. This update mostly brings some bug fixes for GPIO and UART plus a newer installer version for better stability. Just make sure to reboot your system after it finishes to let the changes take effect. Hope this helps anyone looking to update their rig

I just built a PC with this mb and was experiencing this exact problem (couldn't boot from USB), I discovered the USB 3 ports on the front of my case still worked just fine, I'd give that a try.
So far I'm a little unimpressed with the quirks of this very expensive motherboard. I got mine in a combo though, I got a good deal, otherwise I'd never spend so much on one.

Same. Memory on this mobo is finky at best. Im thinking of changing it out for an asus board. Not sure yet. Im waiting for the next update. Stability is all over the place. Even 2 dimms on my system just have issues and its a good gskill single bank kit so it shouldnt have many problems. Memory stability has gotten worse since around A64. Terrible for the price you pay. Either they fix the firmware or I get a new motherboard.

If it gets worse why tf you stayed on higher bios? I am on 50 bios, perfectly stable, everything is working as intended, usb, WiFi, lan. Etc… When you update perfectly working PC, you can only get worse.

I know this isn't directed at me, but I just got this MB and have the new 9850x3d, so in my case I'm pretty sure I need the newer bios. But hearing it has been more stable in the past gives me hope they'll fix it with newer updates.

As long as I am building my PCs, over 30 years, I am always updating bios to the first perfectly stable, good working bios, and thats It, no more messing with it. It’s almost normal, that often, new bioses are fcked somehow, and all you get, was issues.

FYI - 7E49v1A8 does not allow the PC to restore power on power loss, unlike 7E49v1A70 prior (specifically 1A70 and 1A31). I've ensured all settings have lined up on 1A8 as per 1A70 and 1A31, but the motherboard will not automatically boot when power is restored (i.e. shutdown > Tapo smart plug off > wait > Tapo smart plug on > computer boots automatically).

Hi, don't hesitate, you are waiting next update in vain, nothing than headaches, memory tweaks on MSI are limited, as you already notice.
Recently did the smart move to switch the board only, and kept with the same 9900x3D cpu & 8000C38 Gskills kit ram in favor of visible AMD CBS benefits, it changes everything, everything 8000CL36 GearOFF MSI Latency Killer

Has anyone asked Svet at MSI Forums to do a BIOS unlock to expose the AMD CBS missing hidden UMC Common DDR Options menus?

As much as you'd like to buy MSI motherboards, you will not unless those missing menu items in the BIOS issue is rectified. There is no excuse for that and MSI should be apologizing and correct the "official" firmware. Every MSI board that I liked but did not keep related to a botched up firmware issue that MSI didn't care to fix.

Have you tried enable it and flashback to the board back when I had a Intel gigabyte board i would mod it all the time . Msi don't do a very good job with the bios . I had a gigabyte master x570 and the bios was a Great. I didn't go with the master because of the mvme setup on x870e.and I don't like Asus I have a problems with every Asus product I own. Tryed a zenbook and even that screen died and had to sent it in for repair..
