With >>Forum UEFI Shell Flash & Patch Tool<<
you can copy the generated hash of the BIOS file quickly,
by loading the BIOS and click over BIOS-SHA256 on the bottom:

then in this topic you can do press CTRL+F in your web browser,
paste the contents to check if will match it.

Aside from this you can check AGESA version of the BIOS File,
and / or let the tool prepare the USB key for flashing
either by the tool by booting from USB key or by M-Flash.

While doing USB key preparation with the tool,
it will ensure the BIOS File's integrity on the USB key of both Checksum and SHA256.
This also will ensure your USB key used is not damaged or corrupted prior flashing
regardless of the flashing method.

This utter garbage of MSI Center makes Bitdefender Internet Security go off, blocking updates, so I couldn’t update. reason is the way MSI Center executes updates, which triggers a security response. Nothing to do with BIOS

For me, installing two PD updates was a complete clusterfck. I had to completely uninstall Bitdefender because even when disabled it blocked the process. Worse than was the two-hour ordeal of getting MSI Center to install and run properly hanging during installation, freezing during SDK setup until I got it working. Then, for reasons only known to MSI’s toddler's developers, scanning for UPDATE disabled my network, which left me stunned. I ended up uninstalling everything, using the cleanup tool, reinstalling again, and eventually managing to get both updates installed. After that, I uninstalled MSI Center completely never to look back until absolutely necessary, only to discover that the PD updates had broken the 40Gbps USB-C ports. They powered devices but wouldn’t transfer data. After some fiddling, I uninstalled and reinstalled the AMD Chipset software, latest form AMD page and only then did the USB-C ports work properly.
What a disaster this was a harsh reminder never to buy anything with the MSI name in the future.

Updated, finally, to AA2 today from A64. Dialed in my OCs and other settings from A64 and things do feel a bit snappier and smoother. So far, so good... but I'll start doing stability testing tomorrow.

Just a follow-up, since some of you knew I went from MSI to Apex and was quite disappointed by the overclocking headroom.

It’s worse than that: yesterday my Apex burned out, taking my 9850X3D with it.

So even if I’m not exactly in love with the MSI, my old 9800X3D is staying on the MPG for now.

The only good news in this story is that when Amazon saw the pictures of the CPU and motherboard, they decided to refund me for both, no questions asked.

So maybe I’ll try a 9950X3D2. Does anyone have good experience with that chip on the MSI MPG Carbon?

For what is worth , I recently had a chance to try the X3D2 while building a system for a colleague of mine, who mainly uses it for video editing and computing(AI BS and stuff) ,gaming isn't his thing at all. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see how is the gaming performance compared to my existing 9850X3D and installed his 9950X3D2 in my Carbon WiFi.
Unfortunately, I was sort of disappointed. I couldn’t get the tuning right due to limited time, so I left everything at default settings except for enabling the AXMP profile and setting it to balanced mode. ( before installing the CPU I did a CMOS clear )

When it came to gaming, I saw zero improvement. In particular, I expected a performance boost in DCS, an older simulator game that is quite demanding on the CPU, but there was no noticeable gain. The X3D2 didn’t perform any worse, but it felt just like my 9850X3D. Considering the X3D2 costs $900 , with only casual video editing on my end, it simply isn’t worth the money. Overall, the gaming experience felt unchanged. Like I didn't change anything even in games like Cyberpunk I thought the extra X3D cache could be of some use but I didn't see and feel any difference, it didn't perform better nor worse .

For those who need a machine for heavy multicore workloads and want top gaming performance, this CPU is perfect. However, if your main thing is gaming and you don’t require multicore capabilities, it’s not worth the money It literally doesn't bring anything to the gaming table.
Perhaps with extensive tuning, you might achieve slightly better performance over the 9850 or 9800X3D, but I doubt the margin would be significant in games. I was hoping for some performance bump in DCS, but since I didn’t see any I dropped the idea of getting the X3D2 for myself.
I didn't have any issues with the 9950X3d2 on Carbon Wifi the moment I installed the CPU was correctly detected and ran on its advertised speeds However I don't have issues like other people do with bus shifting or memory issues I was on Bios 1AA1.
My system was the same as you can read in the signature , his system was build on ASUS X870E PRO ART + 128GB Ram + RTX4090 however he is getting an A6000Pro which I hope I will have the chance to check out :)

Thanks for the reply. That is about what I expected: not a clear win-win situation.

That’s also the feeling I had with the 9850X3D compared to the 9800X3D. Since I love benching, it was fun, but game-wise, I honestly couldn’t tell the difference at all.

Best bet is to be patient and wait for Zen 6, I guess.

Exactly, that’s my take as well. Even with the Zen6 equivalent of the 9950X3D2 whatever its new designation may be I’d have to think hard if I would go for that CPU, especially since Zen6 is rumored to start at 12 cores and exceed 6GHz. Until then, my 9850X3D will serve me just fine. Maybe the 9950X3D2 might offer some performance boost, but it would require a fresh Windows installation and all the necessary tuning to achieve stable and some performance gains if any . From what I’ve seen so far, just running it out of the box with normal bios settings +PBO+AXMP with the same games I play on my 9850X3D, the performance gains where literally zero. Since I don’t do any CPU-heavy tasks, computing, or intense AI workloads, spending $900 seems excessive. Even if my 9850X3D were to fail for some reason, I’m really not sure I’d opt for the 9950X3D2 after what I witnessed. In short for gaming unimpressive if you already have 9850X3D.

My 9850X3D was killed by the Apex motherboard, but I still have a 9800X3D, so spending another $900 for maybe a 1–3% uplift doesn’t really make sense to me. The only exception would be a delidded one from der8auer, but that would be even more expensive, and it still isn’t available in his shop. Also, I agree on the Zen 6 point. If it really starts at 12 cores and exceeds 6 GHz, probably 6.5 GHz, some even say 7 GHz.
That would be a much better bet on a single CCD, with enough headroom for productivity, gaming, and benchmarking.

I've been pretty happy with the 9950x3d (first version). The CCDs seem to be better binned than my first run 9800's and I'm getting fairly good performance out of both CCDs for their designed functions, though I don't have recent numbers for you after the update to AA2. Without doing too much tuning/overclocking on A64 (PBO +200, Scalar 6x, Curve Shaper 30/20/20/15 I was getting 44753-45064 Multicore/2273-2278 Singlecore. and temps staying below 75 with 10 hour burn-in testing. I haven't had time to really get back into tighter tuning, but it's been running well and stable for months with only 1-2 "locked PCIe" issues a month, and even that's been Gen4 instead of Gen5 and a quick suspend/resume pushes it back up to 5.

I'm gaming and running apps in the background (video editing and conversion), but admittedly I don't play super high-end games very often. It's just my entertainment center and work.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the chip and mainboard. Even though they were refunded, I'm glad nothing else burned.

Yeah, the 9950X3D is definitely a beast in multi-core workloads, but I'm more focused on single thread.Regarding the chip, to be honest, when I smelled the burn, I immediately checked the 5090 power connector first to see if it had melted. In the end, I was actually relieved that it was “only” the CPU and motherboard.

BIOS with 1.3.0.1b PatchA is rolling out to some of the MSI mobos. Let's see when Carbon WiFi will get one. Btw, it is strange that Carbon Max WiFI hasn't got even a test version for 1.3.0.1b yet.

I come from ASUS and for comparison I am tracking the BIOS page of one of their premium (but not the most expensive) mobos. I am surprised how consistent they are with their releases (they had a BIOS with 1.3.0.1b a month ago and they released a new one with PatchA this week). I think that MSI can do better in this regards.
On the positive side, 1AA2 is quite stable so far and I even increased my overclock a tiny bit. I had no experience with test BIOSes (which are closer to alpha status maybe?) so far and I am really pleasantly surprised by it.
