I'm going crazy with this new build. It won't post and it has the red cpu led lit up on mobo, and I can't get into the bios. The code leds shows just two horizontal white dashes!!!!!! Tried reinstalling the CPU two times and I checked very close with a magnifing glass to make sure that no pins are bent, all OK!! Help you all!!! No OS installed yet.

Hi Plutomate,
Thanks for getting back to me so fast. That's what I was afraid of, but it’s a brand-new board, how can that even happen? I've been building PC since 1994, lots of them for my company for AutoCAD and then my own, family and friends, well over 60 PCs. I have never had one Brick like this before, I just built it and turned it on and tried to go straight into the bios hitting the DEL key! I just changed over to MSI on this one because my last board was an ASUS Maximus XIII Hero that started Bricking my SSD m.2 drives like crazy. I lost 4 top tier drives; they couldn’t be recovered. ASUS has gone down the tubes in quality in the last few years. So I tried MSI!!!!

I’ll try to flash the bios from the back bios flash button and see how it goes.

You can also leave out the GeForce for now, use the iGPU of your CPU. You could even leave out the SSD and RAM, just to exclude them (without RAM, it should show the DRAM LED, so if it's still showing the CPU LED, the RAM is not involved).

Hi citay,
Thanks for your input. I took out the GPU, SSD, and the RAM. I plugged the monitor into the iGPU and tried to reboot and it’s the same. Tried to flash the bios again, but it still looks the same!!!!!! No DRAM yellow LED lights up!! It looks Bricked.

Hi Plutomate,
Thanks but it didn't work! :wall:

Ok, so it can only be between the PSU, the board and the CPU (including the contact between CPU and board). If you can test with a different PSU, do so. Make sure to connect the cables for CPU_PWR too. If you can take photos of the socket pins, for us to double-check that there are no bent pins, do that, upload to an image hoster and link them here.

Hi citay,

Thanks again for your input. I just happened to have a NEW PSU for another build, an EVGA 850 GT gold 80. So, I connected it and I get the same code white dashes and the red led. Next, I’ll take out the CPU and get a picture of the pins. I don’t have another CPU of 12 13 14th gen for this board. I already took out the CPU and revised the pins with a magnifying glass and I can’t see any damaged pins. But I’ll do it again and try to get a good picture for you. By the way, I read your article on RAM, I learned a couple of new things. Great article!!! Sorry, I don't know much about how to use an image hoster and link it but I'll try. OK, I got a link to an image host. I hope I did it right!! https://postimg.cc/gallery/Ty2tY2g I put two images of the CPU pins on the board, one with over head light and one without.

Ok, there is nothing obviously wrong with the pins. The PSU is also excluded. Now it only can be the CPU or the board itself, with the board being more likely. I would open a ticket with MSI to see what suggestions they have left, or if they can already tell that this board needs replacing.
