Hi all,
I have a laptop I can't find the right drivers for the tv card.

MSI MS-1715b Megabook  or  could be 17154-B021AU.
1833Mhz T2400 processor.
Windows 7 ultimate.

The tv card is one that is built inside the laptop, and the antenna socket is on the left-hand side at the back.
Windows says the hardware ID is : usb\vid_14AA&pid_0221&rev_0521&MI_00.

I need the driver and I need the program to view the tv.
I don't know what the viewing program is called. Maybe you can help with that. Windows Media Center wouldn't run it.

The MSI downloads page takes me to the drivers for an L745. I don't know if this is right. The webcam driver from this page worked but the tv drivers don't. The driver installer says that the drivers are installed correctly but windows says there are no drivers for the tv.

I would also like to try a bios upgrade if I can find the right model for the drivers.

P.S.  I tried MSI Live Update 5, and it says all my drivers are up to date ??????

Please help if you can,

Use those drivers: http://eu.msi.com/product/nb/L745.html#/?div=Driver&os=Vista%2032
Either Wideviewer TV Tuner_Hybrid or Wideviewer TV Tuner_Digital depend of your tuner type

They are the drivers I already tried and they don't work.
The driver installer says that the drivers are installed correctly but windows says there are no drivers for the tv.

the drivers are correct one.
trty the second package, they are 2 types, maybe you're installing the wrong one.

I did try both.

Do you think it might be win7 causing the problem ?

Oh and what is the viewing program and where would I download it ?...I could see if it gives errors.

Sorry ..Win7 ultimate 32bit. Also, the laptop has 2Gb of ram.

Don't know the history of the tv card, I've only just acquired this laptop.

and yes I have seen the card, it resides in a drawer that slides out after removing one screw.
I could not find any thing written on the tuner board when I removed it to have a look.

The reports I've received are :
The MSI TV receiver installer - installation successful.
Win7 Control panel driver update done manually through device manager - Windows could not find driver software for your device.
From device Manager, the properties for the tuner states - Drivers not installed. There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
In the device > properties > details, all of the properties list elements have data.

Basically, the computer knows the tuner is there and knows what it is, but tells me that the driver is not suitable.

have you tried manual install and point to the driver itself? [.inf file]

Yes, and I even forced the driver to install (even though windows said not to) and the computer blue screened and shutdown "to prevent damage".
I had to restart with the last known working system to get it going again.

You wouldn't think that there would be too much difference between win7 and vista.

If I repartition this laptop Vista, install the drivers and then upgrade to win7, do you think the tv would keep working ??
That is....assuming if it works with vista.
