Im suffering really bad stabiltie problems when using my SB Audigy the machine just randomly locks up and the only way to to unlock it is by the reset button i take the card out no problems it works fine i put all the latest patches i could find on

Is there a known issue with this or is it just my board

Hi,

Given the fact that this board is using the VIA® VT82C686B chipset, it is all too normal (unfortunately) that you have these problems...

Go and look to the second paragraph on this page:
http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=3&faq=16&Search=

Please note that you should install "VIA drivers / SB Live! Drivers / VIA drivers again".. This order is very important!!!

Also check this link!

I know you have an Audigy, but the SB Live! card and the Audigy are all in all not that different, and they are known to cause a lot of problems like you have.. I for one had a 686A chipset board with the SB Live! Man am I happy I've changed to an MSI KT3 Ultra ARU! Mind you that my SB Live! works perfectly well in that motherboard..

There are a lot of so-called 'fixes' out there, but there's no way to say which one will work for you.. some say they solved it with tweaking their BIOS settings, some say changing slots did the trick, others updated drivers, and quite a few used "George's PCI Latency Patch" .. The last one seems very popular and has helped a lot of people! Search on the viaarena.com site!

Hi!

Before looking for a new mobo, it might be interesting to look (and listen!) to other soundcards. The problem you have are pretty much specific for SB and - as was the case with me - may be solved with swapping sound cards, for instanc the Terratec DMX 6fire 24/96. Unlike the Creative Labs Audigy, the Envy 24 is a fully 24-bit/ 96-kHz-compatible DSP (might come in handy if you are interested in music)

The will be other cards available also (Philips, Turtle Beach, etc.) and there might very well be one that you like and will work without problems!
