Hi all,
I've encountered a strange issue with my 970 motherboard, it appears that when I have both my videocard (MSI R9 270X 2G) and my soundcard (creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express) installed in the PCI_E2 and PCI_E4 lanes respectively then the souncard somehow takes priority and runs at 16x speed whilst the videocard runs at 8x.
This is despite the fact that in the manual it clearly states that the PCI_E4 lane is only capable of x8 speed (clearly false as the BIOS indicated otherwise when checking the hardware monitor), I can't seem to find anything in the bios or the manual that would allow me to change the speeds of these lanes.
It's also worth pointing out that whilst the board does also support two more PCI-E slots (PCI_E1 and PCI_E3), they are infeasible solutions:
The PCIE_3 slot is blocked by the videocard
The soundcard produces a horrific 'fuzzy' sound when installed into PCI_E1 (not sure why but it seems like it would be a headache to fix)
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
