Hello everyone!

So I've purchased new MB and I can't get it to work... I'm trying to run it with a old MSI GT730, which is WORKING on different PC and it just won't get past the VGA EZ LED.

My hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: MSI GT730
RAM: Viper Patriot DDR4 2x8GB 2666MHz
MB: MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX
PSU: Corsair CX550M

What I've tried:

1 RAM Only
Disconnecting all unnecessary hw
CMOS clear

Also, mb powercycles few times after i turn it on while CPU led is on (Guess that's normal?)

Thank you for all advices 🙂

I would try reseating the CPU and also removing all the cables and attaching them again. Maybe even try it outside of the case, to rule out a potential short on the back of the board, coming in contact with a standoff in the wrong place etc.

It's not normal for the board to do several POST attempts, no...

I've tried everything you've said, but it's still doing the same thing. I power it up, the CPU LED lights up, then the mobo restarts, then the VGA LED lights up and that's it. I can sense that the VGA heats up, but that's all i can really tell... Also, the GPUs fan is spinning

What type of cable you using try a different type Like HDMI to HDMI and is your mouse and keyboard connected.

I was using VGA. I've switched to HDMI, but it's practically the same...
Keyboard is connected and NUMLOCK, CAPSLOCK does work.

Contact MSI as if GPU is working in another PC then it may be a faulty Board.

So suddenly it changed it's behaviour. It no longer stays on VGA LED, but it's constantly doing this sequence: CPU LED, VGA LED, BOOT LED and reboot.

With no boot drive it should just dump you in to the BIOS or say not boot device found on you monitor is what mine dose if there is no Boot drive in it.

Hey Alan 👋🏼

Thanks for you help, mobo is working now. It "repaired" itself after I've changed the VGA cable. Who would've thought that EZ is looking for communication with the monitor, not the actual gpu...

Thank you both for your help.

I'm going to be so peeved if this is all it is... I've been loosing my friggin mind trying to fix my friends computer for him. i switched out the mobo from the x-470 gaming from msi to just a b-450 a- pro max and his 1050 ti works in my system but I've tried three different gpu's in his system with 2 diff MOBO's and 2 diff PSU's with 2 diff Boot drives I just Ordered a new processor for him even thinking that whoever built his pc for him eventually burnt the cpu out due to having all the fans set as exhausts... but its only a ryzen 5 2600 so its only pulling 65 watts lol I'm gonna check on this when I get home and i wanna punch myself square in the D*** for not thinking to try a different cable.. And while I'll be furious I'll also be immensely relieved and glad to be rid of this headache

but yeah no matter what configuration I had set up It always resulted in the VGA de bug LED staying on and with a black screen and nothing else.
