Hello,
I bought 4 days ago a new motherboard MSI
B550 PRO VHD WIFI on Amazon. I already have a Ryzen 5 5600 and plan to pair it with this motherboard.
Does the motherboard needs a BIOS update when installing the cpu, or both ones are already compatible without anything more to do?

After many researches on internet, I couldn't find a definitive answer. Some old videos (2 years ago) were saying it needs a BIOS update, while more recent posts proclams the BIOS update is already made.
Thanks for the answers.
Best regards

Do you mean the B550M? https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B550M-PRO-VDH-WIFI/support

It supports your CPU from BIOS version 7C95v2A onwards, that's from March '22. If your board is not from some old stock that sat on the shelves for over a year, it might already have a current enough BIOS version (you'd still update it first thing). But also, it has the Flash BIOS Button for convenient updating with an unsupported CPU. So you don't have to worry at all. If it boots already (BIOS new enough), you can update the BIOS via M-Flash in the BIOS. If it doesn't boot, you use the Flash BIOS Button.

The procedure:
1. Download the latest BIOS file from the MSI support site for your board and extract it.
2. Take a USB stick and format it to FAT32 (it's best for it to have a size of 32 GB or less).
3. Rename the extracted (!) BIOS file to MSI.ROM and save it to the root of your USB flash drive / USB stick (not in a subfolder).
4. Plug the USB flash drive / USB stick that contains the MSI.ROM file into the marked Flash BIOS Port (!) on the rear I/O panel.
5. With the PC off, press the Flash BIOS Button, and the LED should start flashing for about 5-8 minutes and then the board reboots.

Anything drastically different (under a minute of flashing, or over 10 minutes of flashing) and the flashing didn't work, so you can abort and try with the next USB stick.
The board can be quite picky about which USB stick it accepts for flashing, so sometimes you have to try several until it works.

Thanks a lot!
It is the right one, forgot to type the M after B550.
I will use your procedure as soon as the motherboard arrives!
To check the date see the Serial number then check for what bios was released just before that date

This is one of the best instructionals on how to use the bios flash button.
