Hello!
I'm in the process of setting up a new PC from scratch, with all new components. However, I've encountered two issues that I'd like to share with you to see if you can help me:

1. Every time I turn on the computer, there's no display on the monitor. Although it visually appears that all components are working correctly inside the case, I can't seem to get any image on the monitor. So far, the only solution I've found is to perform a Clear CMOS every time I turn on the computer, which is quite inconvenient but effective, as it allows the computer to start properly.

2. Every time Windows goes into sleep mode, upon waking it up, the computer undergoes a complete restart, as if it were starting from scratch. Additionally, it doesn't retain the state of any tasks that were in progress before the suspension. Everything in the operating system reappears as if it were a fresh Windows startup.

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions to resolve these issues. Below are the specs of my setup.
Thank you in advance!

Hi.

The same issue exists with the RX7800.

Have been reading up some posts on reddit and I have the same problem with mine.
Not detecting VGA and it seems to have something to do with PCI potentially. I am no expert but I tried all solutions.

Thing is the previous bios versions I tried out dont detect the GPU at all.
try go into bios and change the pcie gen and lanes for your card . this will propably fix your issue till they fix it on upcomings bios.. i have open ticket also with msi for the exact same issue

Thanks for your time and help.

I tried this already, all these things did not help, unless I changed the bios to the BIOS with AGESA version 1.0.0.7c.

This is the only BIOS that worked for me, as Charlie mentioned in the thread previously. Only setting the pcie lanes to 4.0 etc does not help me.

Now I am using the card on this old bios but I am getting random micro freezes (like 0.1 seconds) here and there, guess thats because I am using an unoptimized 1 year old BIOS?

Hope they fix this in an upcoming BIOS update...

The Main cause of that was Chipset Drivers making sure they are up to date as well as any WIndow Updates
Also if you Disable fTPM it can stop the Micro stutters some times

Thanks for your answer I tried disabling the ftpm now, if I dont report back it probably fixed it.

Chipset drivers... Anything I could be missing? I updated the AMD adrenaline, not sure what else I can be updating?

Thanks for your time

I have exactly the same issue with you. The only solution is to roll back to the BIOS with AGESA version 1.0.0.7c.

MSI sent an engineer to help me to diagnose the issue and we've found that only CPU replacement could solve it. So it is the issue of AMD's CPU with different batch.
OMG I found Sebastian's post which talked of this BIOS version based on your post. I've spent days trying to get a 7700xt working with my MSI MPG B650i Edge WiFi. I tried everything. I had no choice but was resigned to sending the GPU back as presumably defective and then found this right at the end. Downgraded to this ancient BIOS and it worked. Thank you both so much. You've no idea. I spent a lot of money and time on my new build and it was all working with the igpu then couldn't believe the problems I was having on the final step of getting a discrete GPU working.

Now looking forward where does this leave us? Are you saying you know the problem is for sure at the AGESA side and not MSI's and no fix is known to be coming? In which case I'm never touching the BIOS version again and sending the motherboard back wouldn't be wise since it would be the same with other manufacturers?

Have you ever tried to change the PCI_E1 and PCI_E2 lanes configuration setting other than AUTO?

The only solution on my side previously was going back to the BIOS with older AGESA version. Replace my CPU with another one also fixed the issue.

If we go to this sheet you can find that the SMU firmware version got upgraded after 1.0.0.7c. That's why I believe that AMD should be responsible for this issue but not MSI.

Is this still the case? I installed 7D73v14, the latest 1.0.0.7c but still no GPU display. I have:
- Motherboard: B650i
- CPU: 7800x3d
- GPU: Zephyr 4070 itx
- RAM: 32gb of corsair 32gb 6000Mhz CL30 DDR5.
- Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 4.0 M.2 NVME on the front, Crucial P3 3.0 M.2 NVME on the back
The bios displays when the hdmi is connected to the motherboard but not the GPU. There is no VGA debug led light on. The GPU spins as well, just no display. I tried forcing PCI-E1 to Gen4 and Gen3 to no avail. The only lane configuration that shows is x8+x8, x8+x4+x4, and x4+x4+x4+x4. Should x16 also be an option? What could be the issue here? Defective GPU? CPU lanes not recognized? or bad motherboard?

I am really p*ssed off that I have spent a small fortune on my build saving hard to buy the best components I could afford expecting that in 2025 on a mature BIOS and product that everything would just "work" only to find I cannot use my brand new $ 1600 (AUD) 4080 Super GPU in a MSI Mortar motherboard with the latest BIOS and chipset updates. It isn't recognised at all in Windows yet I stick a "several years old" AMD card in the slot and it works immediately. Whoever is responsible for this motherboard debacle needs to get their [***CENSORED***] into gear. I wish I had only seen these forums before I bought MSI. So time for a ticket - over to MSI and if they can't provide a fix the motherboard is going back under "Unfit for Purpose" reasons of our Australian Consumer Affairs legislation and I am then going to buy another brand that does actually work ! Rant over and apologies but I am sure people who have also wasted days of their lives trying to get a simple GPU signal onto their monitor will understand my absolute frustration.

Have you tested the GPU in a separate system?
Another GPU working is good this suggests the BIOS and Motherboard are working correctly.
Have you tried both Displayport and HDMI output?

On the motherboard, there are some LED Debug lights Do any of them stay on? they are next to the 24-pin power connector

There is a firmware update from Nvidia that fixes some blank screens in from 4080 and 4090 series

I sent the GPU back to the Sales Agent as I had exhaustively tried everything I could find on the Net and their suggestions by email to try and get a solution as I don't have access to another PC to test the card in. They got the GPU tested by an external testing company they use who put it in their test system and the card worked fine - they tested for 2hours with FurMark and a 3DMark benchmark (Steel Nomad) and couldn't find any fault. I was very lucky I wasn't charged a fee for that as normally they do for "no fault found" referrals.

I have tried both Displayport and HDMI. Nothing on screen at all with either. Using the CPU inbuilt GPU I get a picture on both almost immediately following a "No signal found" due to the PC boot delay and then the display fires up.

The Debug lights all go off suggesting that the system doesn't see an issue with the card and the small power LED on the card itself and the RGB all light up. The fans have never activated but I think they are based on temp so would only come on when the card reached sufficient temp. I am assuming that the fans worked fine for the testing company or they would have reported the issue when the card caught fire under Furmark and Steel Nomad benchmarking !

I have not tried the firmware update but I did read about it. It seems that this is unlikely to fix the issue as from what I can tell the latest cards don't require the update. However I will try it to rule it out to see if that helps and thanks for the link - however I am wondering how I apply that if Windows can't see the card just as I cannot install the NVidia drivers either with the card unrecognised by Windows ?

I am also wondering if the card is just not displaying a picture but is working as thinking back the "Numlock" key light did come on as if Windows is booting up. When I get the card back I will have to implement a Windows boot sound using the CPU GPU so that I can at least hear if the PC is going into Windows and the issue is just a lack of screen signal.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am wondering if all the other people reporting similar issues with their cards and MSI motherboards ever actually solved their problems ? I have found quite a few links including this one so MSI must be well aware of the potential issues however I could find nothing in the Motherboard FAQ covering it. I guess not good for business to highlight the problem !

I will take a guess that you have the MSI Motar B650 Motherboard
what make is the GPU

So the answer I eventually found was to pull out all the ram sticks except the one in A2. Let the BIOS do it's thing with the lights and the delay as it works out what's in the system. It should then boot on the one stick with a display. Then you can increase the number of ram sticks after that. Why four ram sticks upsets it I don't know - something MSI need to address in a future update. Anyway if anyone comes here in future following this thread with a similar issue (including an onboard SSD NvMe drive not being recognised in an onboard slot) the answer for me was to remove all sticks of ram bar one and boot from there.

hi.. i have a b650m mortar wifi with r7 7800x3d and rtx5080 my bios is 7D76VAI and i run into bios easily but before 3 days i flashed last beta version 7D76vAK beta but my pc boot immediataly on windows ..there isnt any other screen for enterin bios...when i try to press del key i cant boot only a black screen ... i tried clear cmos result it was same...what şs the best bios for 7800x3d
