MSI B660 Tomahawk DDR4 - CPU Core Voltage Offset

I was able to undervolt properly with the new v12 BIOS for the Mortar DDR4 WiFi, released around a couple of weeks ago.

Are you able to change the PL1 and PL2 manually on this board? I have the exact same board, and I can only set the "Cooler Profile," I am not allowed to set the PL1 and PL2.

There are 2 options
1. go to BIOS\OC\CPU Cooler Tuning and select boxed cooler (should be intel default settings)
2. go to BIOS\OC\Advanced CPU Configuration, change long/short duration power limit to 125W

Yes, I'm familiar with the cooler options, but box cooler limits you to 65w PL1 and 120w(?) PL2.

As for your second point, I cannot change PL1 and PL2 in the BIOS, it's locked to "Auto." Do you have my board, B660m Mortar? Are you able to change PL1 and PL2 in your BIOS? Because you cannot in mine. I would like to set PL1 and PL2 to 125w.

In that video, his long and short durations are also locked to "Auto," notice he doesn't/can't change it. The little red pencil means it's disabled from editing. I want to know how other people in this very thread claimed they edited theirs!

1. The memory will only run at a max of 2666.
2. The system keeps randomly freezing, requiring a power off.

I am not really worried about issue number 1, but issue number 2 is really annoying. I have tried so many suggestions from this forum but they don't seem to work. I have the latest bios 7D25vH2. (I didn't bother getting 7D25vH3 yet as it only Updates CPU microcode to support Intel Core i9-12900KS CPU.
Anyone having similar issues as me, or any advice?

Do you have any SATA devices plugged into the SATA A or B ports on the motherboard? If so, unplug them and plug them into one of the other SATA ports. It appears there is a bug with the ASMedia controller on the board. The ASMedia controller controls those two ports. There are 4 other ports you can use instead.

I don't use any SATA devices at all. I only use one m.2 SSD drive. I just updated the bios just in case, just today, and it crashed while I was playing a game.

BIOS wouldn't cause crashes. Very unlikely.

What are the crash codes? Are you getting any blue screens? What does Windows event viewer say?

Probably better to make a separate thread to troubleshoot this as not to hijack this one.

I tried again to add voltage offset (12700 and b660 tomahawk) after updating to the newest BIOS.
Now if I add a negative offset, the system starts up and the BIOS shows that the voltage is lower. But with any offset, performance is reduced and I get much less points in Cinebench R23.

So no matter it's positive or negative offset, the performance is worse?
How's the max CPU frequency when running Cinebench like? Usually this is what you would pay attention to when it comes to performance.
Have you checked CPU temperature as well?

I've only tried an negative offset.
The max CPU frequency is the same as without an offset - 4.5 ghz when the multi core benchmark is running. The temperature is lower than without offset.

Tried a few more offsets and found that there is no performance drop at -0.01 offset, but the temperature and consumption are almost the same as without the offset.
No offset, max power - 170, CR23 - 21772
-0.01, max power - 168, CR23 - 21762
-0.015, max power - 164, CR23 - 21019
-0.02, max power - 158, CR23 - 19438
-0.03, max power - 150, CR23 - 18106
-0.05, max power - 129, CR23 - 13113

I tried again to achieve a lower voltage without losing performance. I decided to check if the same behavior occurs when changing Lite Load Calibration in the newest BIOS. And yes, it's the same. When I lower the mode level, the voltage and performance go down. But just like in the previous version of the BIOS, when the mode 1 is selected, the voltage is lower, and the performance is the same as at the stock settings. But unfortunately it's unstable (just like in the previous BIOS version) and I immediately get a BSoD when running the Prime95 small FFTs test. I tried add a positive offset in order to make the system stable. But again the offset is useless. I was still getting BSoD even with +0.04. Then I tried to change the Line Load Calibration and found that at mode 6 there is no more BSoDs during the test. And at the same time, I still have lower voltage, temperature and consumption.

Conclusion: offset is useless, only Lite Load Calibration mode 1 helps. It seems to me that it is made on purpose that if the locked CPU receives less voltage, then the performance decreases. And maybe activating the Lite Load Calibration mode 1 disables this limitation.

How is the performance..?

Current settings are Lite Load Calibration mode 1, Line Load Calibration mode 6 and stock voltage.
Prefomance is the same as at stock.
For me changing the Lite Load Calibration setting also reduces performance, with the exception of mode 1. For some reason, the mode 1 does not reduce performance at all.

what is the situation about the bios for the B660 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 and B660M Mortar Wifi Ddr4 ?

I planning to pair ine of these mobo with an 12600K, so my quesstions are:

- Can i undervolting the 12600K with adaptive + offset ?
- Is the cpu lite load setting aviable as well ?

Any experience to share please ?
