I wanted an upgrade for my LGA1700 server, and chose the MSI B760 Gaming Plus Wifi because it has DDR4, so I can recycle my RAM.
My device is a Broadcom 9440-i8 RAID Controller 12G. Works perfectly on two other motherboards, but the MSI B760 Gaming Plus refuses to boot when I plug it in. It powers on, but I get no video. A ping shows that in the background, it is not booting nevertheless. It's stuck in its boot sequence as soon as the RAID card is in the slot. When I remove it, all is fine, but with this being a file server, the RAID controller is rather essential.
This raid controller is PCIe Gen 3 x8. The main difference between this motherboard and the others, is that it is a PCIe Gen 4 x16, while the others are PCIe Gen 3 x16. That shouldn't matter, but nevertheless I fixed the version in the BIOS on Gen 3. Alas, no difference.
I'm at a loss and about to send the motherboard back, but before doing that, I wanted to have a last try on this forum.
