MSI Big Bang XPower BIOS 1.2
Intel i7-930 2.8GHz
Crucial Ballistix 3x2Gb PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333)
HIS HD 5850 iCooler V 1GB
SATA 1: Western Digital RE4-GP (RAID0)
SATA 2: Western Digital RE4-GP (RAID0)
SATA 3: Western Digital RE4-GP (non-raid)

SATA 5: Plextor PX-880SA 1.12
SATA 6: Empty
SATA 7 (Marvell): Western Digital RE4-GP (non-raid/HAF X hot swap bay)
SATA 8 (Marvell): Western Digital RE4-GP (non-raid/HAF X hot swap bay)

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate X64

Configured this way the PC will hang just after the Intel controller screen with Debug LED Panel 78 - Initialize INT 13 devices and IPL devices. (include SATA/ PATA HDD and CD/DVD ROM). I can't even access the BIOS.

BIOS can't be entered/Windows won't boot unless SATA 7 & 8 are both unplugged.

SATA 7 & 8 can then be hotplugged and read under Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is someone aware of ICH10R having trouble with SATA DVDR?
Is it due to Marvell controller?

Plextor PX-880SA 1.12
Someone else had trouble with this brand drive, & now I can't find the thread. He changed the drive to a different brand & then everything worked.

The Marvell is an external controller, so wouldn't think so.

That thread's user is using a Plextor IDE DVD drive.
 Plextor PX-880SA 'is' a SATA DVD IDE drive.
