MSI Center Abnormal

Hi All,

Having the same problem as others. Brand new install on Windows 11 fresh install.
Tried 2.0.13. Then uninstalled using the uninstallation tool from elsewhere in this forum. Then installed 2.0.12 but that also has the same issue

Mobo is: MSI Z790 Tomahawk
GPU is: MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPRIM X
CPU is i7 13700k
RAM us 32GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum
Windows update has been run. Not sure where to go from here.

Guys. I found a solution and it worked for me. I added a windows Local account with administrator privileges and i started MSI center from the another account and it worked nice.

Updated to 2.0.16.0 from 2.0.14.0 and now I'm having the "msi.centralserver.exe is abnormal" message. Tried uninstalling using the CleanCenterMaster tool and reinstalling from windows store, but no dice.

I've tried to download 2.0.14.0 from https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/mb/MSI_Center_2.0.14.0.zip but the link seems down.

Also tried 2.0.15.0 from https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/mb/MSI_Center_2.0.15.0.zip but it do not finish downloading.

I'm trying with the MediaFire linked version of 2.0.10.0....

I'm on a MSI Vector GP77VG

So I had this issue on 2.0.14.0 (downloaded through Windows Store), SFC repaired some files but it didn't help so I downloaded the 2.0.15.0 version (from web) and installed, then launched and allowed it to update. During installation MSI threw a warning about no access to its own MSI_Kernel.dll file but choosing to try again worked, program updated, now it works.

So before installing 2.0.10.0 and cleaning the 2.0.16.0 I rebooted and, surprise, 2.0.16.0 was working. But then rebooted again and stuck at SDK Initialization for a while and then the message appeared again.

EDIT: And after rebooting again, it now works? So... sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't?

EDIT: After rebooting a couple more times, it doesn't start correctly again, with no changes to the system... something is definetly wrong with 2.0.16.0... Someone have 2.0.14.0 available?

It is unstable 2.0.16.0 even if it installs after reboot and multiple reboots, it wants to re-install the SDK or it gives an abnormal error that wants to reboot.
Even though I now have the update disabled, it still tries to install from the Microsoft Store

Please fix it already, I don't want to reinstall it from version 2.0.14.0, which was probably the most stable so far anyway.

Not sure if you can go back... I've tried looking for it but the download link is down. The most recent version I've found is 2.0.10.0 which is uploaded to media fire a few pages back in this thread

Same with me I used cleaner master and tried to install 2.0.16.0 And still I am getting the modules not loading and then the msi.centralserver.exe is abnormal" message.I’ve tried this with 2.0.15.0,2.0.14.0 and 2.0.10.0 with the same results please figure this problem out I have not had MSI center working for a month now,and I’m getting very impatient.

Hello my friend thanks for the info, but the only problem with that approach is that it lets MSi software engineers off the hook to find a viable alternative/solution to not having to do that process you mentioned. For instance I have maintained that there should be no need to create a local administrator account when a user already has a administrator account that is already in use at least in my case that is.

In truth I am half tempted to do that but why? When I go back to my regular account will I still get the same message? Too many what if's for me.

@ MSi fix it, no excuses. And by the way it makes me wonder if they do this bad of a job with their software how good is their BIOS, drivers, and other apps? Makes me wonder?? I am seriously concerned.

Today my version 2.0.10.0 auto updated to 2.0.16.0 and after 10 reboots or so it seems to be consistently working thus far... Maybe upgrading from that version avoids the issue?

I did noticed that in General Settings my toggle for the webcam is gone

Well, this just so happens to be a workaround suggested by Microsoft when the Microsoft store won't recognise a product you have downloaded like games and such. Microsoft store is not the best and MSI may be better pulling their software out of it and just doing web updates like they use to.

Was not aware of that, and it is true that the Microsoft Store is not the best. Late with updates and historically speaking Microsoft leaves alot to be desired. I also found this about the Microsoft Store as well, just an FYI Windows 10 and Windows 11 in S mode FAQ - Microsoft Support
