Hello forum. I just bought an MSI laptop for the first time last week , been happy so far.
However I had an unpleasant situation today when I went to MSI center app and decided to try what happens if I switch from Balanced mode to Extreme mode. I then clicked the little machine wheel on it to look at the settings, which are overclocking CPU and GPU, and a tab to custmise fan speed. I didn't toggle any tabs in overclocking or fans, but about a minute later suddenly the laptop became unresponsive, the mouse cursor would slightly move with a delay of about 15 seconds. Soon after that the screen went black, at which point I got worried and decided to press and hold the power button to force a shut down. I am not sure what happened, could it have caused any hardware damage? Nothing was running except, just background programs like anti virus. I did later read that extreme mode greatly increases voltage on CPU and GPU even if you don't mess with the overclocking feature.
I turned on the laptop again a couple of minutes later, thankfully it seems to be working fine for now. I tried to enable the extreme mode again, no problems occurred this time. Has anyone experienced anything similar with MSI center?
