I came across a thread on another forum, so I can't take credit, but wanted to post here to maximise the amount of people who know about the change in the latest MSI Center update:

MSI Center v2.0.50.0 has removed the Silent "User Scenario" and replaced Super Battery mode with ECO-Silent.

I frequently used Silent mode because it provided performance comparable to Balanced Mode but without the fan noise. It was ideal for playing games that didn’t require much power, such as The Sims 4, but would still trigger fan noise under Balanced Mode.

Unfortunately, ECO-Silent significantly reduces performance, making it unsuitable for gaming. This change feels odd.

Yeah, i was using silent mode for the exact same reason. Looks like MSI want its app to be shittier and shittier each update...
You can uninstall it and go back to the previous version, but eventually the update will no doubt catch up. If you look online you'll find a thread regarding this.

On my laptop when i turn on ECO-Silent without plugging in it, it locks itself to 0.40Ghz and laptop becomes near to unusable as it becomes so slow. is there any way to tweak that a bit? i at least want to watch yt video in ECO-Silent but loading yt website takes ages

I don’t think there is unfortunately, it’s designed for working on battery on a Word document etc. I would either use balanced, AI mode or install the previous MSI Center which retains the silent mode.

I can still watch YT video in ECO-silent mode without plugging in, the CPU clock is higher than 0.4Ghz.
Which model do you have?
You can download HWinfo to check the PL1/PL2/CPU temperature/CPU clock while switching to ECO-silent mode.

MSI... what was the reason for that join? If it works, don't change it.
Old "Silent" mode give us the right performance and keyboard LED ON.
Sorry to say, but new ECO-silent mode is pretty much useless for most of the time and most of the users.

I only see use for ECO mode if you desperately want to save battery (which is nice to have functionality), but when you are plugged in (which is 98% of the time), it is just useless.
In contrast, I used old "Silent" almost all the time.

Please keep Silent and ECO mode separately, we need "Silent" mode back!

Please bring back silent mode.

Please bring back silent mode.
New users join the forum to complain about the newest version 2.0.50 of the MSI Center.
I phrase it like this because the "User Scenario" is part of the MSI Center.
And it happens also on Reddit: This New ECO Mode is Garbage.
I guess MSI made another mistake with her famous MSI Center.
I installed this version a few days ago. I did no tests and did not pay attention but I always make screenshots when i update this "fine piece" of software. And ...
Windows 11 MSI Center User Scenario User Account2 - 2025-02-24.jpg
Voila.
Have to run some tests.

This is becoming so bad that in balanced mode, my CPU reaches 80 to 85 degrees in games when in silent mode. It used to be the same FPS with 65 degrees.
WE NEED SILENT MODE BACK, MAN

Here is how to install the previous version of MSI Center from support:

Below are older versions of MSI Center:

We recommend that you use the uninstaller tool in the link below to cleanly uninstall the old version before installing it.

This link contains the CleanCenterMaster tool. After uninstalling MSI Center using this tool, the system will automatically reboot.
It's safe and virus-free right ?
And is there no way to officially bring it back via tweaking the settings? I'm so sorry, I'm a bit new to this

I was provided the link directly by MSI support, so I would expect it to be completely safe to download. Although, obviously always take precautions and run anti-virus to ensure - this is a good precaution to take with any downloads.

No worries, unfortunately there isn't a way to tweak the registry. You would need to follow the instructions I mentioned above and then turn off auto updates as mentioned by @Adrian the Saxon

Hope this helps.

hello,

Tested, approved, and installed ! Works fine !
Thanks! 😊

You're welcome, I'm glad I could help.
Well, unfortunately, the software automatically updates to the latest version even though I have unchecked "automatic updates." I have reinstalled the previous version three times, but every time I restart, it automatically reinstalls the latest version. I suppose blocking the software in the Windows firewall might be necessary... unless you have another solution.
However, if you know the installation directory... strangely, I can't seem to find it.

With this I can help. Ask me.
Or search for 9426MICRO-STARINTERNATION.MSICenter or DCv2.exe.
This are no regular Windows programs, be careful.
Ok, thanks :) But I think the issue comes from the Microsoft Store, which automatically updates software installed through this platform, including MSI Center. The problem is that if you disable updates, it applies to all software, not just this one...

OK. I’ll try a protocol:
  1. Uninstall MSI Center via the Microsoft Store.
  2. Clean up using MSI’s dedicated software.
  3. Reinstall the previous version via the .exe without going through the Microsoft Store.
    We’ll see how it goes.
