MSI Center update has removed silent mode!

Ok, thanks :) But I think the issue comes from the Microsoft Store, which automatically updates software installed through this platform, including MSI Center. The problem is that if you disable updates, it applies to all software, not just this one...
  1. Uninstall MSI Center via the Microsoft Store.
  2. Clean up using MSI’s dedicated software.
  3. Reinstall the previous version via the .exe without going through the Microsoft Store.
    We’ll see how it goes.
I download my versions from a German website and don't use the MS Store.
For a while I had installed 2.0.48 then updated to 2.0.50.
2.0.48 was never in the store.
Code:
2024/11/27 : Release 2.0.45.0
2024/12/30 : Release 2.0.46.0
2025/01/02 : Release 2.0.47.0
2025/02/24 : Release 2.0.50.0
When I did run the program it said "update available". But i could ignore it.
And important is to remark that the MSI Center has more then one setting about updates.

Well, the problem is that the MSI application, even after a proper uninstallation, always reappears in the Microsoft Store console... So, I've disabled automatic updates in the Microsoft Store for now, waiting for a better solution (maybe one day :cry:)...

MSI, bring back Silent Mode ! Thanks.

On my Titan HX13. Yes, when I open it, it does ask if I want to update or not... but even if I select "No," it still installs the update anyway.

Have you seen my picture? Find this settings. ;)
I don't remember where to find them, sorry.
And just now I am on my Linux system so i cannot look. :(

I found where this option was located. However, I believe it's Microsoft Store that is forcing the installation. I've disabled it, and I'll see in the next few hours if that's indeed the cause of the automatic update. Thanks again for your help! 😉

Still on version 2.047.0 after several restarts. Yes, it seems that simply disabling automatic updates in the Microsoft Store does the trick. 😉

On my laptop when i turn on ECO-Silent without plugging in it, it locks itself to 0.40Ghz and laptop becomes near to unusable as it becomes so slow. is there any way to tweak that a bit? i at least want to watch yt video in ECO-Silent but loading yt website takes ages

Today I am in the mood to play arround with this so called "Silent Mode".
I don't know about what people complain.

Operating System is Windows 11 23H2, MSI Center version 2.50.0.

What can you see in the picture above?
ECO Mode is activated in the MSI Center. A CPU Stress Test is running. A Youtube video is playing.

Follow up.

Found a possible bug. After switching the mode (to Extreme Performance with ?? don't know - see picture ?? in the MSI Center the Hardware Monitoring is not properly updated.

By the way. The Stress Test is now running for more than 30 minutes.
A bit more stress?

Ok. One or two FPS is bad.
But the Youtube video is still playing at normal speed. :D

I stop the Stress Test after 1 hour.

The reaction time goes down but the system is still usable.

Until then, you can always download an older version with Silent Mode.
Yes, that's what I've been doing since the update
But I don't think it's a permanent solution. I hope to see silent mode returned and officially supported in the future.

Most of us do, but with the obsession with AI lately, many companies go ahead with strange ideas, most of the time it's associated with reducing costs.

Never in my LIFE before, with all the laptop brands I have owned (Razer, Alienware, Aorus, Infinity AU, Lenovo, Apple, and now MSI) have I had an entire operating mode just taken away. EVER.
But MSI strikes yet again to ruin my gaming laptop even further! Thank you!

First, they change the bios to cap at 120W on my GT77 no matter what, lower my clock speeds and Cinebench score by 20% at least, and now they take away my silent gaming mode.
With the GT77's cooling, I was literally able to play any AAA game in actual silence without ANY thermal throttling. 50W on the CPU, 150 on the GPU and perfect temperatures and performance when I rally wanted no noticeable fan noise.

Obviously I can't say what I want to say or I will get permanently banned from here, but after removing G-Sync a few years ago, to removing literal performance with a bios update that had to be installed to cure other major problems, to now taking away my silent gaming. The joke is, that silent mode had perfect temperatures as it was and was the best silent mode of any laptop I had ever seen, as it still performed so well. I used to rave about it online, how I could actually game in 1440P or even 4K in near silence.

There's something wrong with them or someone is currently in charge over there who gets off on upsetting their customers. There's no other explanation as this is CRAZY.

Tell me MSI, makers of intricate laptops - are you saying that it would have been THAT out of your programming ability to present FOUR user scenarios instead of THREE. WOW, the sheer mind blowing thought of it all. Or, even more "mind blown" - you could have even had one little option box, yes one, deciding whether the third mode is "silent" or "eco". WOW, think of the possibilities.

THANK you for continually REMOVING performance of my 7 thousand dollar laptop. THANK YOU for continually removing wonderful features that set it apart from the pack. Because of COURSE, those who buy desktop repalcement gaming laptops think of an ECO mode first and foremost. Of course, it was beyond the scope of MSI's ability to let the user of their flagship models choose for themselves.

Never, ever, ever, ever times infinity times infinity, EVER MSI again. EVER. If God sent his beloved son to me and told me the future of mankind depended on me buying another MSI laptop, I would say "let the world burn". I am THAT annoyed.

I used to game in silence, now I game in noise - always.

This is actually disgusting and they better fix it or I have a mind to go to the better business bureau and complain. I have had it. No one else does this. ONLY MSI, and they will never learn, it seems.

DISGRACEFUL. SHAMEFUL.

If you all want to have back your SILENT MODE, you have to also post in the links below, not just on this forum that will have less impact!

For anyone curious, throttlestop is the answer.
You open it and it has 4 profiles to select on the fly, just leave default as whatever default is in MSI extreme performance mode, and then for the next profile, cap your wattage.
I have capped mine to 48w and can click between profiles even easier than the MSI utility (cause it's faster). Trust a third party to do something MSI seemingly couldn't.
In combination with EVGA X1, I lowered the clock speed of the GPU, so I can have true silent gaming again.
I just did a cinebench torture test at 48w, and temps were in the low 60's for the CPU and the clock speed was an impressive 3.2ghz (I have a -0.70 undervolt in the bios which helps a little).
When gaming at 1440p or 4K, so far the CPU is still staying at 5ghz because it's not hitting the 48W cap except for a few games, and even then it's never 100% load in a game so the lowest I have seen is 4.3ghz. I have lowered the GPU performance by 25% just to add an extra bit of true silence, as now the GPU fan never ramps up at all. But even so, if I leave the GPU at default settings, it hits the 175w (mine averages 177) easily and maintains it and there is still only very little noise.
So that's how you do it.
You can have really good high res performance, or adequate high res performance (sort of like a 4070 ti mobile instead of a 4090) in pure silence (quieter than silent mode).
Use the fan curve on the MSI tool to minimize everything for an extra step.
