MSI Center update issue

The latest MSI Center update added a notification popup for Caps Lock, Num Lock, etc. when the key is pressed. This is very annoying while gaming to accidentally tap caps and have a popup in your view constantly. Im going to revert back to the previous version because I could not find any settings anywhere to disable the notifications. I even went so far as deleting windows updates because I wasnt sure what was causing the notifications after I did a bunch of updates. If anyone knows a way to disable this or if MSI could at least add an option to disable this feature it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place, its gaming related because its distracting for me in game.

Hey man, you can try to deactivate "MSI Foundation Service" from your "Services" and restart your computer, I struggled like 2 hours trying to disable it but finally worked!
Thanks for the info, I tried doing this but as far as I can gather without the service running MSI Center ceases to function at all. I need MSI Center to have my custom fan curve otherwise my laptop gets way too hot before the fans even turn on at all. I just reverted back to version 2.0.65.0 and the feature is gone completely. I dont see why they cant add a toggle button for this like the windows key disable toggle feature within General Settings.

I have the exact same issue, I also cannot just disable the service as i need to manually turn on the fans for gaming so it doesnt overheat.

Hello, i also have the exact same issue and it seems like it's true that msi center is the one causing the problem because i disabled windows update, could you tell me how to revert back to the version that you mentioned? i couldn't find a way to revert back the version.

MSI Center v2.0.65.0

You should use Clean Center Master to completely remove old MSI Center:
https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/nb/CleanCenterMaster.zi

edit: as of Feb 7, just noticed the MSI Center with the link inside is the crappy version now.... this is the copy I have for the version 2.0.65 with CleanCenterMaster as well
as well as do not forget to disable "always update" on the Setting (top right gear icon) in the MSI Center as well accidentally left it opened and yea that's how I found out that the Version in the first link I've sent was updated to the annoying version.

edited the post hours ago beforehand your reply, and added the 2.0.65.0 (in hyperlinked in the text "this is the copy I have for the version 2.0.65 with CleanCenterMaster as well") as I've noticed that the link updated to 2.0.66.0. Tho my bad, as seems hyperlinked text looks the same than non-hyperlinked text...

but then here is a better response of mine:

here is my copy of 2.0.65 btw with CleanCenterMaster: https://www.mediafire.com/file/qmsb3ze0jmla0ea/MSI_Center_2.0.65.0_%2B_CleanCenterMaster.zip/file

remember to disable updates with the app (go to settings which is gear icon on the top right in MSI Center and disable the Always Update).

also Disable Automatic Driver updates from Windows 11 (found out that sometimes they push updates via Windows Updates)
method one in this is more than enough: https://www.intowindows.com/3-ways-to-disable-automatic-driver-updates-in-windows-11/

if necessary as well disable App Auto Update in Microsoft Store (to do so go to Microsoft Store → Click the Profile Icon on the right beside the Search Tab → Store Settings → then toggle of App Updates... tho the max is only 5 weeks so kinda annoying, or this guide: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/disable-automatic-microsoft-store-updates which most likely do definitely)

I don't believe that this is caused by the Clean Center Master. The software doesn't touch drivers.

I am almost certain this was the root as there was very little time until i noticed this error and I did nothing system relevant inbetween. This error actually turns out to be a massive headache as according to diagnosing this for 3 hours with copilot:
  • Windows repaired (SFC, DISM, DISM mit ISO)
  • drivers reinstalled
  • HID‑layers rebuilt
  • Intel‑I2C‑Controller reinstalled
  • BIOS‑Reset
  • EC‑Reset
  • Safe Mode tested
  • no filter drivers
  • no registry manipulation
and yet:
  • BIOS → button works
  • SteelSeries GG→ button works
  • Windows → no Scancode

I work on an MSI GF63

I have always update disabled and my MSI center updated to the newest version automatically, now I have to remove it again to get rid of the REDICULOUS caps lock notification. PLEASE MSI, DISABLE THIS OR GIVE US A TOGGLE PLEASE.

Update found this guide on how to disable the feature:

I rarely use my Windows installations these days.
You are telling me - I need to download a tool to disable a feature?
And to run it as Administrator? :wall:
----------------
One more reason to avoid Windows as much as possible.
Have a nice day.

considering you even need a another app to uninstall the MSI Center and components rather than a easy uninstall from the Apps in Windows, really they ignore that disabling auto-update totally mean the app shouldn't update, or adding such feature without even able the ability to the user to disable it. so it is mostly due to MSI is really crapping out with their softwares

I remember that it is possible to prevent the app from updating. But it was somewhat complicated. I can try to look it up again.
That you need a program to uninstall the MSI Center ....
The MSI Center is NOT a app. It is a chimera. Half app and half "normal" exe program. Or better many exe programs. Use the "Clean Center Master" and then read the log to see where it deleted software.
IMHO - MSI should just program it as a "normal" exe program. Or maybe split the functions in different programs. KISS -> keep it stupid simple.
Have a nice day.

So my MSI center automatically updated again. I do not think its the app itself, Microsoft Store will periodically run auto updates in the background even if you never use the app. MSI Center is listed on MS Store so it updates whenever the app decides it wants to auto update. I cannot find any settings withing the MS Store to prevent this. As for the fix listed above, it seems quite sketchy and I also got a Windows Smart Protection prompt but I can confirm the Caps Lock and Num Lock indicators are gone after running the fix with the newest version of MSI Center. Thank you for this.
