Original Problem:
After a recent Windows 11 update, the auto-rotate functionality on my MSI Claw stopped working entirely. The "Rotation Lock" toggle either disappeared from the Quick Settings or was greyed out, and the device no longer responded to physical orientation changes.
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
Despite restoring the "Rotation Lock" icon and seeing the UI react to physical movement (the tray hiding), the screen remains stuck in landscape mode. I found that the Rotation subkey was missing under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\...\Explorer in the Registry; manually adding it did not fix the issue. It appears to be a critical bug in the Windows 11 Shell or a conflict between the Sensor Service and Intel Arc Graphics drivers on the latest OS builds.
ps. i discover i cant nów calibrate the controller in msi center m
- Driver Reinstallation: Multiple attempts to reinstall Intel Integrated Sensor Solution and Intel HID Event Filter (both from Windows Update and official MSI support site). The system often blocks driver removal or forcefully restores generic drivers upon reboot.
- Hardware Reset: Performed a full EC (Embedded Controller) reset by holding the Power button for 60 seconds.
- Registry Modifications: Manually forced the rotation icon back into the UI via Registry (SensorPresent, SlateEnable). The toggle is now visible, but the function remains unresponsive.
- Behavior Analysis: I noticed a crucial detail: when I physically rotate the device, the Quick Settings tray (Action Center) automatically closes/hides. This confirms that the accelerometer is sending data and Windows is receiving it, but the actual display rotation process is failing to trigger.
- Fresh Install Test: The issue does not exist on the factory MSI image. It appears immediately after applying Windows 11 updates.
