MSI CLAW 8 AI+ Xbox controller no longer works in games

Hello everyone,
I usually play with the MSI CLAW 8 AI+ docked to my living room TV, so I use a wireless Xbox controller.

Since yesterday, the controller works fine in the Xbox menu, but as soon as I launch a game (Xbox Game Pass, Steam, or a locally installed game), the Xbox controller doesn't work, although the controls via the console's sticks and buttons work.

I even tried connecting the Xbox controller with a cable, and that didn't work either.
I tested a second controller, and the same problem occurred.
I tested it in Xbox full-screen experience mode and in normal Windows mode, and the problem is present in both cases.
I uninstalled the controller from Device Manager, and after reinstalling it, it still doesn't work.
My controller's firmware is up to date.
My console is up to date.

I'm very disappointed that I can no longer use the console in docked mode and would appreciate any ideas regarding this problem.

Thank you all in advance.

Which Claw do you have?
Did you switch to gamepad mode or turn on auto switch?
Try to disable the embedded controller and check if the problem can be improved.

Hello and thank you for your help.

It's an MSI CLAW 8 AI+.

I have a gamepad mode and a desktop mode: whether I activate one or the other, the external Xbox controller doesn't work.

I can't find where, or how, to disable the integrated controller : i think this option no longer exists

I should also point out that even when not docked, the problems are the same.

Okay, I found a solution by going into Device Manager and disabling the Xbox 360 controller device. This actually disables the internal controller of the Claw 8, and after restarting, the external controller works, but the internal one doesn't. So I have to go back into Device Manager and re-enable the Xbox 360 controller device to be able to play in handled mode again... not very practical...

I think there's a conflict between the external Xbox controller and the internal controller, which is also recognized as an Xbox controller.
I'll see if I can try with another type of external controller, like a PS5 controller or something else.

In the quick settings menu.
Refer to the manual, you can set the embedded controller function in the quick settings menu.

Hi Raju,

I couldn't find the options you showed in the screenshot in the Quick Settings menu, I uninstalled and reinstalled MSI Center M.
This gave me access to the option to disable the built-in controller.

It works much better now: everything is fine in Steam, but for locally installed games, there's one where it doesn't work.
As for Xbox apps, I have a problematic game : Routine, I can't play it with the external controller (whereas it worked last week), but other games work.
It's clear that everything related to the external controller isn't very stable or optimized: i hope, it will improve with future updates.

In any case, thank you very much for your support.
