Next-Generation Performance with Intel® Arc™ G3 Extreme

At the heart of MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is Intel® Arc™ G3 Extreme, a gaming architecture optimized for handheld devices. Designed for compact gaming systems, it helps balance graphics performance, power efficiency, and thermal control within the limited space of a handheld form factor.

With the latest Intel Xe graphics architecture and Intel® XeSS 3 technologies, Claw 8 EX AI+ is built to deliver smoother AAA gameplay with higher frame rates and better efficiency. XeSS 3 combines Super Resolution, Multi-Frame Generation, and low-latency optimization to improve both visual quality and responsiveness.

Super Resolution uses AI-powered upscaling to boost FPS while maintaining image quality close to native resolution. Multi-Frame Generation inserts up to three generated frames between two rendered frames, significantly increasing frame rates and gameplay smoothness. Low-latency optimization helps reduce input delay, keeping controls fast and responsive during gameplay.

For players, this means more stable performance across fast action scenes, open-world exploration, racing, and competitive gameplay — with smoother visuals, faster response, and fewer interruptions from sudden frame drops.

Smooth Visuals on an 8-inch 120Hz VRR Display

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ features an 8-inch 120Hz VRR display for a larger, smoother handheld gaming experience.

The 120Hz refresh rate helps deliver fluid motion, while VRR helps reduce screen tearing and stuttering when frame rates fluctuate during gameplay. Whether players are racing through high-speed tracks, exploring detailed worlds, or reacting quickly in combat, the display is designed to keep gameplay smooth, clear, and responsive.

Cooler Boost HyperFlow for Longer Gameplay

To support extended gaming sessions, MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ features Cooler Boost HyperFlow with a revolutionary interflow thermal design. This design redirects part of the airflow to cool internal components more effectively, helping keep the system stable during longer gameplay. By maintaining better thermal balance across key components, Claw 8 EX AI+ allows players to game longer with more consistent performance.

More Immersive Handheld Play Experience

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is designed to make handheld gaming feel more natural, precise, and immersive from the moment players pick it up.

The improved flared grip design provides a more comfortable hold during longer sessions, while Hall Effect joysticks and triggers deliver precise control and long-term durability. The upgraded D-pad further enhance input feedback across different game genres, from action RPGs and racing games to fighting games and platformers.

To make every action feel more connected, Claw 8 EX AI+ also features an enhanced vibration motor that delivers faster and more detailed tactile feedback. From weapon recoil and road texture to impact effects and environmental cues, players can feel more of what happens in the game — creating a handheld experience that feels more responsive, comfortable, and engaging.

Optimized Handheld Experience with Xbox Mode and MSI Quick Settings

MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ improves the handheld gaming experience with Xbox Mode and MSI Quick Settings.

Xbox Mode supports quick launch and seamless resume, helping players get back into games faster. MSI Quick Settings further streamlines the experience with a cleaner, more responsive interface, giving players faster access to essential controls without navigating through multiple menus.

I have ordered one, but what is the deal with driver support? The situation with AMD drivers is unacceptable; AMD does not offer driver support for Z2 Extreme which is diabolical.

The flared grip looks much better. Ergonomics can honestly make or break a handheld for me.

The fans on this thing are tuned so so so badly. Fans ramping up to 58% at 32 degrees just makes no sense. And you cant control it. We spend so much money on this handheld for something as simple as fans to be locked down. If you hate loud fan noise, don't get this handheld. MSI support have been notified and said it's "by design" and that they wont be changing anything. Very dissapointing.

Manual:
A mode with customizable settings for the TDP Adjuster and Fan Speed
1. Select [Manual].
2. Use the TDP Adjuster to change CPU power. Select a dot for CPU TDP by 8W,
17W, or 30W. The selected TDP will directly apply to complete the setting.
3. If you will make further adjustments to fan speed, please choose [Advanced].
4. Select a dot for Fan 1 or Fan 2. After it turns red, you can adjust your settings by
moving up and down.
5. Click [Apply] to complete the setting.

Thanks for this. I do know how to use manual fan curves. Even with a manual fan curve, the default MSI applied fan speed for the EX is 58% (around 3500 rpm). This is by design, as communicated by MSI customer service. There is no way on an EX handheld to lower that default floor for fan speed. So even if your CPU temps are in the 30s (degree C), your fan speed will be running at or around 3500rpm. There is no logic to why this is. Why would you need the fans to be running at 58% when literally the delta from room temp is 10 degrees? Aside from the absurd default speed, when the handheld is running demanding games, the fans ramp up and down, seemingly disconnected to the actual CPU temperature. In sum, the fan logic created by MSI makes no sense and MSI has taken away the ability to fully control the fans as a user, which we had with the 8AI. As it's currently designed, I would not recommend anyone buying an EX. Why would you spend nearly USD2000 on a computer that you cant even control the fans on?
