I bought the MSI Create Z16 i9 less than 4 years ago. It always gets hot when I use it, despite having a laptop cooler fan below it. A few days ago, it started to shut down/reboots every few minutes and suddenly I heard that a small burst noise. The laptop will shut down and never starts again. I sent to MSI service center in Malaysia, and I was told that MSI no longer has spare parts of this motherboard, ie, it cannot be fixed. How is that possible?

The laptop cost me more than SGD $4000. I may live to regret this investoment for the rest of life if this cannot be fixed and MSI no longer has a replacement motherboard. Thank you.

There’s no solution, though.
There are reasons why it can’t be repaired.
If it exploded, there’s a good chance the motherboard section itself is damaged.
That’s probably why they determined it couldn’t be repaired.
Personally, I think you should consider buying a desktop PC.

I forgot to add that the service center told me that MSI no longer has a replacement motherboard.

And thanks for the tip of buying a desktop instead of a laptop. Do you know why laptops are made?

I would contact an independent electronics repair shop in your country and ask what they can do. On this Youtube channel, you can see a skilled technician at work. Such people can be found all around the world. They get expensive notebooks that are out of warranty or where the board isn't available anymore, and they can solder in new components and fix certain things. Of course there will be some cost involved, but if the notebook cost a certain amount and has some good hardware in it, it can easily be worth it.

Thanks for the advice. I did visit an independant store and he told me the same. I expect to pay a lot for the repair. But what did not expect is MSI said they no longer have a spare part for this laptop even it was released less than 4 years ago.

Create Z16 with Intel 12 or 13 gen processor...This model has been on the market for around four years. Based on the typical product life cycle, it would be reasonable for the product to have already reached EOL, or even EOS, status. This is not unique to MSI and is generally consistent with the product life cycle practices of other brands as well.

That is not true. I have had a few Dell XPS, that are much older and Dell still provided support. And to fail this kind of failure within 4 years shows it is not really a good latptop.
