MSI Creator Laptop : fullscreen issue of changing color

Dear all,

I have bought a laptop MSI Creator 15 A10UET-220FR

The issue I am describing here seems similar to this one : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?...-watch-a-youtube-movie-in-full-screen.359430/ but the solution found there needs the "Dragon" version, which seems to have more features than "Creator Center".

When entering full screen (a video, a google slide presentation, ...), I can see that the color scheme of Windows changes. As soon as I move the mouse, for example in vlc, the overlay of the below buttons appear, so I assume the system "thinks" it is not in real fullscreen anymore, and I can see my regular colors (tone, brightness) and not anymore the modified full screen colors. And if I wait some seconds, as soon as the buttons overlay disappear (and I am really in a full screen video without any overlay), then, the colors are again modified. Same thing with Powerpoint when in presentation mode (full screen).

I have searched through all windows 10 settings, Intel graphic driver settings, MSI overlay, I have played with virtually everything I could find, but nothing.

It seems there is a software overlay which thinks that it should change the color schemes to enhance full screen vision (and make things worse).

MSI overlay is quite clean and simple compared to other manufacturers, searching through it was quick (MSI Creator Center, and MSI True Color), but even deactivating them does not change anything.
I have read on reddit that it should be related to the way the Intel drivers behaves on many MSI systems, but without much of explanation.

There is also an nVidia RTX 3060 inside. But when the nVidia is active, there is an orange diod on the keyboard showing which CG is running. The issue happens when the orange diod is off and when it's on, so whatever the graphic card currently running if I interpret correctly.

As a second test, I have attached a second screen in HDMI (Duplicate mode). When I put anything in fullscreen, the color changing happens only on the laptop screen (wrong behavior). The external monitor screen keeps clean and unchanged (expected behavior).

Other than that, my system is working perfectly, I would not like to go to a full reinstall or breaking anything. I am searching a "clean" configuration / parameter to change correctly rather than "uninstalling everything and try again"!

If someone has a clue, I would be grateful!

Thanks

Hi,
Can I know more about this symptom? Can you afford the video about this problem and export System Info through MSI Creator center?

Of course. Here is a video in a zip (mp4 not allowed to upload). This is a video filmed with an external camera so that the effect is not altered and is seen as the user.
For information, at the very beginning of the video, I am already in full screen and so, in altered wrong colors (background yellowish).

Same issue on a MSI GE75 10SFS. It does it also on full screen videogames. Did you find any solution?

No the bug/feature is still present. Sometimes, it seems even to not know if it has to change colors, and it flickers every few seconds! solution : use always the laptop in windowed mode, never in full screen.

Well, I can't game, watch films or work on my 2900€ laptop due to this flickering.

I am cursing myself for buying it. Bad customer support.

Hello!

I solved this problem by installing newest driver for Intel UHD Graphics. I used Intel Driver & Support Assistant, because other installed programs didn't see some updates. Now I have not a problem with fullscreen.
But after updating I have another problems and I don't know how to completly describe them. It looks like new driver corrects fullscreen colours as not fullscreen colors (It is good), but sometimes during a half of second driver doesn't correct colours (in not fullscreen!). And there is a lot of lags when I switch windows or switch to fullscreen.

Another solution is to disable Intel UHD Graphics, but it is not good solution too. My laptop with 3080 very slow without Intel UHD Graphics.

UPD. Problem exists.

How did you get MSI true color? I can't find any download links for it except the one on portrait.com. But that one gives this error when launched `the files native.bin and backup.bin do not exist`
Check if the support page of your model on MSI.com has True Color in the Utilities tab.
Not all series and panels support True Color.
Check your panel ID in the system info exported by MSI Help Desk or whichever Center that you have.
Confirm if the panel ID is in the folder included in the True Color one.
If it is not there, then your panel doesn't support True Color.
If it is, try clean installing it.

Turns out it isn't supported for my laptop (GP66 Leopard 11UG), but I fixed my issue of color-fringing / chromatic abberations with a workaround. The issue was only for the intel integrated GPU, so just changed to use Discrete GPU in MSI Center. If anyone encounters the same issue, look at the screenshots below to see how I changed it through [MSI Center](https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NVMNJCR03XV).

Search words so it's easier for people to find on Google:
Chromatic abberations , color fringing , red and blue distortion , color distortion , MSI laptop blurry colors , MSI laptop chromatic abberations , MSI laptop color-fringing , GP66 Leopard 11UG color-fringing , GP66 Leopard 11UG chromatic abberations , GP66 Leopard 11UG color shadows , GP66 Leopard 11UG stretched colors , GP66 Leopard 11UG blurry colors , GP66 Leopard 11UG color distortion

Hi guys, same happening to me since I bought my MSI Creator 15 laptop about 10 months ago. No updates to the problem and still waiting for a solution. I dont have the option to Discrete Graphics Mode neither as mine is MSI CREATOR CENTER of the 10th Generation and doesn't appear the menu. However, don´t think this is the solution to the problem. I have a beast as computer with a 4K screen with this horrible color temperature changing constantly in full screen mode. Very dissapointed with MSI.

hello guys

The only solution that worked for me is using Firefox
Yes! I know that can be a solution but I need to work with Chrome software and interfaces. So not a good solution for me at the moment. I have bought a really expensive laptop for "creator contents" and this is really anoying. Need a solution or I will have to send back for refund.
Thanks for your comment!

Clean install the Intel Graphics driver.
Try removing True Color if you have it on the system or vice versa.

Thanks for the help. I have opened several tickets with MSI and followed their instructions doing tones of clean installations. No results so far so I went yesterday to the computer shop where I bought it from so they could see the problem. Seems to be a bug between Intel and Nvidia changing only in chrome apps with these MSI creator models using true color. Full refund and bought a new MSI creator Z16. Hopefully this bug doesn't appear here! 😕
