The newly released game Black Myth Wukong on linux.

Thanks for the link for that video, but to be honest, my next game will be either DYING LIGHT 2 or CYBERPUNK 2077.
But it's good to see, that even recent games are playable on Linux, previously, it was almost always older games.

Well back in 2021 all the games i played where working great under proton

So today i tried Pop! OS 22.04 on my MSI Crosshair 15 B12UGSZ and i must say, i never have seen a live environment running that fast. All drivers are loaded on default, nvidia, intel gpu, sound, bluetooth, wifi and so on. All the FN keys are working, fan, sound, keyboard and so on. It's a matter of time before i ditch Windows 11 aside. The sounds are working better on linux then it does on Windows, much louder and no need of third party apps.

The time is ticking....

I was on POP OS before on my old Desktop with an Nvidia GTX 1080. I went to it after quitting Windows 10 cold turkey back in 2020. For two years I had it on the Desktop, but I had to switch back to Windows 10 in 2022 due to stuff breaking in POP OS with steam. From updates getting stuck, to eventually shaders taking forever to compile and wouldn't stop unless I had hard shutdown my PC.

To me Linux is good for small handheld pcs and other non critical devices. But for gaming I would rather use Steam OS and the Deck since Valve to me is the way Linux gaming is for the future.

No idea what happend on your end, i can’t say the same. Did you use steam flatpack or did you install the .deb package.

I will install pop os in a few days on my external drive and will play with it on my current machine. I want to check if there are problems or not before i will fully transfer back to linux again. Saw a post from someone on reddit who owns a Crosshair 17 B12UGSZ unit and had issues with linux.

Awesome, please share your experience with us.

Well i might do it today, i am about to backup my external driver to another external drive. I am going to use a 1TB external drive for Pop! OS 22.04. Fingers Crossed, hope it works without problems because i really want to switch.

Enquiring minds wanna know how this goes. External SSD USB 3.2. ?
Proton, Ubuntu, Pop Os, Steam OS.... oh my. If it works for you, heck I'll try it too. I do have extra SSD drives to give Pop OS a try out. Good luck🤞

Well i will do it tommorow, the file transfer from one external to another took almost 2 hours (sigh) and it did not even hit the 1tb 😅. Afther that i fired up my kamado and baked some pizza with my family 😂.

Sorry guys, tomorrow i can tell more.

Pop! OS 22.04 is installed!. Everything works out of the box. No issues at all, it even detects my Dualshock 4 controller, in windows i have to use a program (DS4Windows) to emulate the xbox360 controller.

Video will be posted later for now a few screenshots added.

Sounds better than Windows? I can believe it. My Android devices sound better than Windows, which junked up the sound with too many dependency apps. My 15" 10th Gen sounds better too, (same internal speakers) but has no Intel Smart-[***CENSORED***] Sound Technology.
But I still will give a big thanks for the latest Intel Smart (but dumb) Sound Audio Technology update. In my 12th Gen can't work without it. Something was broken with Intel High Definition/HDMI & the useless Realtek console was running like a service. This update fixed all my current sound issues. Thanks!
Intel's updater program/app = meh Useless like their SUR/Queencreek junk. I've gotten updates for Intel here & before installing them, turned on Intel's updater app & it says, no updates available, your computer has all the latest driver versions.
Next, Intel's latest Wifi/bluetooth drivers install all kinds of other useless drivers for Wifi 7 & bluetooth 5.3 with their one package fits all philosophy.
But hey, as an aging pack rat, one always wants more junk in their trunk, right.
Looks like I'll be making up 2 install USB flashdrives. One for Pop OS & a Nlited Windows 24H2 with as much removed as possible. (Won't be removing any security features though).
Recenty I shut down every MS update service I could find. The MS Store couldn't even download. I proceeded to think, that werks for me.
System (BS) Component Apps. MS People, MS Teams a system component? Really. Powershell says removed for all users. I say thanks.
Final note, while manually searching my OS drive I came across a file in an MS folder that gave me a chuckle. It's title was Computer disabled, you betcha.

* The bold marked driver names are the ones that got updated compared to my previous all-in-one post.

I would recommend the program wushowhide to disable auto update on the intel graphics driver and i highly recommend O&O ShutUp10++ to disable all the spyware/telemetry Microsoft added in Windows 10/11.

Realtek audio delay fix
* Block Windows 11 driver updates

!!!!IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!
Yesterday i installed
Pop! OS 22.04 on my external 1TB nvme drive (the one that got shipped with this notebook). So far it is working like a dream, 10 hours none stop without issues. Games are working, no single driver issues, ps4 controller works out of the box (i don't need a app (DS4Windows) to emulate the xbox360 controller) and so one. I am very happy with the results on this machine. When i install this OS on my internal drive, windows will be wiped. This means i do not need any windows drivers anymore, which means i will not update this topic anymore to add newer drivers. If by any means Pop! OS fails and i really need Windows to rely on, then of course this topic will receive the driver updates as how you got used to.

But so far....it did not fail.

Also, Realtek LAN should have been in bold 👀
For a video with POP! I work well Czech subtitles I have to watch carefully 👀
YouTube also subtitled the dubbing of the game 😀

It's excellent news that MichelN86's system is now stable on Pop! OS. For the rest who are clinging to Windows 11 for a while longer, has this thread now run its course, or will the community keep it updated?

MSI machines got better support since kernel 6.4 from last year. If people want to switch, just try it out. 😎

Realtek Audio - 6.0.9709.1

This update also includes the following:
* Realtek Audio Effects Component - 13.740.1341.340
* Realtek Audio Universal Services - 1.0.776.0
* Realtek Hardware Support Application - 11.0.6000.338

a laptop/notebook edition of the older 6.0.9709.1 audio driver is available on the main MSI download site, while the 9709.1 MSI driver that used to be available on the MSI LiveUpdate site has been recently removed

Well that's great that Pop seems to work very well and he has convinced me to go forward with one of my laptops to go that route.
But with me now in the busy season at work and with winter coming soon, I doubt I will have time to achieve this before Xmas!

Thanks again MichelN86, for your great video and input on the Pop OS.
Maybe you should start a thread about Linux software, after all it seems many post about Linux OS in general, just saying.
