* The bold marked driver names are the ones that got updated compared to my previous all-in-one post.
** I would recommend the program wushowhide to disable auto update on the intel graphics driver and i highly recommend O&O ShutUp10++ to disable all the spyware/telemetry Microsoft added in Windows 10/11.

!!!!IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!

Since i started to use Pop! OS (Linux) on my MSI Crosshair B12UGSZ i do not need any windows drivers anymore, which means i will (probably) not update this topic anymore to add newer drivers.

It turned out that on my Katana laptop, sound didn't work because I only installed the Realtek drivers, but not Nahimic. I'm not sure why Nahimic is needed anyway, I would like to get rid of that crapware but it seems it is very deep in the system that it can't play any sound without it. The Nahimic app has an obscurely hidden Uninstall button but that uninstalls only the app, not the drivers and background service or any other stuff.
So I installed the Realtek drivers (restart was requested twice), then Nahimic and then the cab file. Sound is working again, but the stuttering is still present. And it still does it on BT headphones as well as on external USB sound card so it is not a Realtek problem.
In the meantime, I found out that it is a well known problem with nvidia drivers on laptop GPUs that nobody cares to fix for years. I wrote a support ticket to both MSI and nvidia so am curious of their position. To get more info, just google "nvidia dpc latency". No workaround has worked for me, except setting Power options - Minimum CPU percentage to 15 (default was 5), where I get less stuttering.
The problem can be verified using a program named LatencyMon. After chaning the Power options, nvidia driver nvlddmkm.sys moved to 2nd place in latency and the 1st one was acpi.sys which points to poor ACPI implementation in the BIOS as far as I was able to find out on the interwebz.
An expensive gaming laptop like this should not have any latency problems, not with just playing music and doing nothing else. :(

Strange isn’t it ? In linux it just works without it 😂👌🏻

I have found, at least on my laptops, that when I disable the Nvidia dGPU in Device Manager, my LatencyMon results improve dramatically, so I think that in my case Nvidia is the culprit,
even on my older laptops the change is amazing, of course only a few would be chosen for professional work, PS63 best result.
Nvidia seems to be now in the arrogant and priviliged multinational companies, yes Microsoft pointing at you, that can do whatever they want and get away with it.

What a great idea to combine both! MSI needs to pin this thread. It's one of the most important topics in the forum.

So far my linux machine is still rocking!, managed to get the EA App installed within steam LOL! (did not want to use Lutris). Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs so smooth.

Cool pics MichelN86 ! I have to say with the new year it's time for me to make the jump! I have faith that MS 24H2 will not make me a happy camper.
Even though I will be installing/trying out the "Euro" version of Enterprise so Edge/Webveiw2 can be easily removed, there are way too many other issues that MS throws in to their OS that are making people like me jump the ship. Bought some new 2TB SSD's for the OS drive to help me decide. But still need a 4TB gaming one for running the games, one of my next purchases. Also looking at buying a MSI Raider 18" HX/4080/4090. The Titan HX is just too expensive. The Raider HX has 64 GB ram capacity vs the Titan can have 192 GB of ram/with 3 SSD slots, but is 2 grand or more in price.
When America's tariffs kick in next month, it's most likely goodbye to any purchases like this for me.
So while I was hoping to get a 5080/5090, tariffs say, sure but with moe money, honey. Billionaires luv him, regular folks like me, NOT SO MUCH.

Intel GFX driver update: gfx_win_101.6325_101.6252.exe
They/Intel claimed it was released today, 12/13/2024.
This version installed into my 12th Gen MSI. Installed it as I posted here.
Intel said it removed Legacy support with this update. Reboot required with this update.
For me I ALWAYS do a clean install. For who needs older drivers mucking up their system.

drek4: as always thank you for your words of wisdom.

Arrogant, privileged & entitled, Nvidia & now sued by their share holders for their part in Crypto bit mining.

Note: I updated my Opera GX browser today. Now it is crashing out here. Any further issues with Opera GX here & I will just move to Firefox for posting here.
Could it be Chinese based browsers are facing a type of blacklisting? On my Android devices & Windows laptops I have never experienced past security issues.
But, but known criminal types think they can change the world/everything & the blacklisting has already begun? Vlad & company to soon form a new pac.
New Ms Universe pageants will happen in Moscow to celebrate fellow kings into the pac.

Make sure you test it before installing. If you like it or not. For new users it’s sometimes a challenge to find the correct apps on linux. Mostly they give up if something happens and take the easy road and reinstall windows. When i started to use linux in 2021 i had it installed on my notebook, but i also made sure i had another installation on my external drive. I did this so i could test stuff before i made a mess on my notebook.

For microsoft paint i use pinta in linux.
For internet i use Firefox
For gaming i use steam/ea app. Epic games and gog games i use lutris for.
For microsoft office i use libre office (open office can also be used).

When you try linux, don’t give up if you don’t know how. Google can help, the linux community can help and believe it or not…copilot online can help too 😂.

Hope everyone is well!
Is there any chance anyone knows of a newer Intel Management Engine firmware update tool? (newer ME firmware)

Latest notebook/laptop specific MSI ME FW Update Tool I can find is ME16127 (16.1.27.2176 LP)

These are provided by msi for vulnerabilities if i am not wrong.

Yes, security vulnerabilities but it can also impact other things.
On desktop Z690 for example, there were RAM and PCI-Express issues that could only be resolved by an ME firmware update.

MSI would get the firmware sources from Intel, customise and stitch them together into an update file and then release their update package.
ME firmware updates can also be integrated into BIOS/UEFI updates or delivered by Windows Update at the manufacturer's discretion, when done in such a way it is transparent to the user.

I believe the latest ME firmware available from Intel is 16.1.32.2473 as Lenovo recently released an ME firmware update for one of their laptops that has this version number.

ME FW updates are not really universal, desktop and mobile are different, depends on the chipset and generation etc.
Best not to mess with it, stick to the manufacturer's recommendations or manufacturer released updates for safety.
IF a ME FW update goes wrong the system will most likely be bricked.

The ME is responsible for many parts of an Intel-based system. Such functionality extends, but it’s not limited, to Platform Clocks Control (ICC), Thermal Monitoring, Fan Control, Power Management, Overclocking, Silicon Workaround (resolves silicon bugs which would have otherwise required a new cpu stepping), Identity Protection Technology, Boot Guard, Rapid Start Technology, Smart Connect Technology, Sensor Hub Controller (ISHC), Active Management Technology (AMT), Small Business Advantage (SBA), Wireless Display, PlayReady, Protected Video/Audio Path etc.

Merry Christmas to all! MichelN86 you still & as always are the MAN.
Looks like I'm jumping ship too , in a way. As with Intel. I have made the choice to go to AMD.
Their last & latest processors/heatfest Intel CPUs are All bullshxx. AMD have better performance in gaming, 24.1 % over the board in any/all games.
Then their/Intel latest fake-naming processors are the same ( all bullshxx), their latest under performing CPU's are all junk in the trunk.
I'll be purchasing a MSI AMD Raider 18" 4090 . AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D Hands down the AMD beats Intel i9-14900HX in performance gaming bench marks by 24.1%
People like me buy laptops like this for one reason only, to GAME baby !
The laptop I will be buying was released Nov/2024, with a AMD processor that was a year old & why with an nVidia 4090 & not a Radeon GPU?
Intel has some splainin' to do Lucy. Well they lost top dog spot a long time ago with their overheating issues. It has only gotten worst for them & their CPU's.
On a bright spot for Intel, their video cards "ARC" are getting good reviews, will see how this works out for them.

My 12th Gen laptop was running at 160 degrees with a cooling fan pad at full blast in menu mode in the last game I installed, with NO turbo, WTH?
I predict it would burnout without a doubt trying to game, Intel, 2 (n)(n) down. Goodbye to overheating Intel.
No, I don't think going to Pop OS would save my overheating Intel based 12th Gen laptop. Overheating Intel fix, is called ....AMD. Or don't just don't game with it.

Whoever claimed these updates are universal? Ist they are for newer MSI LAPTOPS ! Grab a clue.

Merry Christmas to you as well!

Unfortunately, every brand, every model and every manufacturer have problems of some kind.
You could be "lucky" and have no issues at all with anything you use.
You could be like me, always have problems with everything.

I have had multiple 12th gen Intel laptops across different brands, some are good, some are terrible, exact same experience with AMD laptops.

This is a little off topic, I have an MSI Bravo 17 C7VFKP with a Ryzen 9 7940HS and RTX 4060, every AMD Radeon driver newer than 24.8.1 causes failure to boot\bluescreening\locking up...
Recently, MSI or AMD pushed a new AMD Radeon driver through Windows Update which causes the exact same issue.
Having a Google shows many people having the same issue with desktop systems running AMD dedicated GPU's as well as mobile systems and desktop systems running integrated graphics.

March 28, 2023 I reported an issue with the ZEN3 fTPM implementation to AMD, after going back and forth with AMD, on July 14 2023 AMD responded with "We have identified the issue" which "will be addressed in a future BIOS update"...
I last checked earlier this year (September 2024) with a 5700X and 5800X3D across two MSI motheboards and an ASUS motherboard running the lates BIOS....
The issue is still present and has not been fixed.
I have contacted both ASUS and MSI support about it in the past, both referred me back to AMD as it is an issue AMD needs to resolve, I attempted to contact AMD but never heard back.
I am convinced it is actually a silicon level issue with some, if not all later produced ZEN3 CPU's.
I had two 5950X's one was from launch and one was a lot later, launch one had no problem, later one had the issue.
ANYWAY, I don't care about those or that problem anymore, I required TPM Attestation for a project I was working on, I ended up just getting some Intel systems, sure glad I didn't keep waiting.
Before that I was lucky enough to have multiple AMD desktop systems with the SEGFAULT issue (Ryzen 1000 series issue), had multiple desktop Ryzen 2000 series failures and went through 3 5950X's that died at stock CPU and RAM speeds... *EDIT OH i almost forgot the AM4 USB issues that were "fixed" multiple times... fun*
