@ TS35: you need to do a fresh ISO install of Windows. It happens way too often, updates just fail when Windows puts/installs them on top of other updates.
24H2 latest update 12/24 has all kinds of problems. Meter your internet to help with updates. That along with "Denying Windows/System/Trusted Installer" in the Registry permissions page on changing the Registry hack works for me. I wait for the issues to surface & then make a choice on what to update. One has 21H2 the other has 22H2, the only security issues they have is, none.
Registry hack:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"AUOptions"=dword:00000002
"NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001
"NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001
Important if you don't deny System/Trusted Installer in that Registry permissions page, Windows update will change these values, in a heart beat.
The only times they both have any problems has to do with Windows update. Windows, we are all just their beta testers.
Your only other option is if you have a System Restore point that was right before this latest update was installed.
Yes, using System Restore has worked for me in situations like this.
But if you never set up System Restore.....you have no options. Trying to uninstall a Windows update like this, especially a version update, not gonna happen.
