MSI Crosshair 15 (B12U) Latest driver updates.

Nothing at all, your temps are a bit cooler compared to mine. 😇

Do you use any stand ?
Well that's nice to hear. Doesn't feel like it in practice sometimes. Nope no stand at all. Every time i try to take measures to reduce CPU temps using power management, the average temps act really erratically. Moreso with ARC installed. But i am looking into some radical CPU cooling solutions soon. 95c temps under heavy load is too scary for me in a hot climate.

I would also recommend the program wushowhide to disable auto update on the intel graphics. This because if you use intel auto updater (or intel website) to update the Intel ARC driver windows update always kicks in and downgrades the driver to a much older one. Which in many cases you have to do multiple reboots unnecessary.

To install a .cab file:

1. Extract the cab file anywhere you want
2. Go to your device manager (Computer -> Control Panel -> All control panel items)
3. When the device manager is open click on your computers name in the list.
4. Now at top select “Action”
5. Select “add drivers”
6. Select the path where you extracted your .cab file

Intel® Arc™ Control app:
If you are smart just install the driver files only from "Intel® Graphics" and stop/don't use Intel® Arc™ Control app. Intel® Arc™ Control app increases temprature + it keeps using the secondary gpu card (nvidia). It does not switch back to the intel gpu when Intel® Arc™ Control app is installed and doing low tasks (or doing nothing). My MSI Crosshair 15 notebook always had the power button orange (meaning it used the nvidia card). When i removed the Intel® Arc™ Control app my power button went white and my fans were a lot quieter. I really thought my fans where dead .

Disable the nvidia telemetry (thx m_w_h from reddit): (My system kept randomly freezing on battery power, when i removed the telemetry plugin my system had 0 freezes)
To remove the Telemetry plugin, with administrator privileges delete OR move the _NvGSTPlugin.dll found in the Nvidia Driver folder after stopping NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem service: Locate the folder containing the _NvGSTPlugin.dll by issuing the following at a Command Prompt (cmd.exe)
Code:
DIR "%WINDIR%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\*NvGSTPlugin*" /S
the generic path is
Code:
%WINDIR%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispig.inf_amd64_[UNIQUEVALUEHERE]\Display.NvContainer\plugins\Session\_NvGSTPlugin.dll
however other paths for vendor specific INFs may vary.
Once the path for _NvGSTPlugin.dll has been found, open an Administrative Command Prompt (cmd.exe)

  1. 1. Stop the NVDisplay.Container service
  2. 2. Delete _NvGSTPlugin.dll
  3. 3. Restart NVDisplay.Container service
Example:
Code:
sc stop NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem
DEL /Q "%WINDIR%\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv[INFNAMEHERE].inf_amd64_[UNIQUEVALUEHERE]\Display.NvContainer\plugins\Session\_NvGSTPlugin.dll"
sc start NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem
NOTE: [INFNAMEHERE] and [UNIQUEVALUEHERE] should be replaced with the value specific to your system

Hi Michel, thank you for this post and information! I was wondering if you can help me. I have the MSI Pulse 15 B13VGK. I went back and forth trying to figure out which is the best Intel Xe Graphics driver I should be using. MSI's site is still showing version 4146, and the Intel assistant only showed up to 4316 from June. I installed that one and was having some screen flickering and weird aberrations. So I used DDU tool to remove it via Safe mode. But then Windows installed 4255 again automatically when I got back on regular Windows 11. I noticed I was having some stutter on browsing and the screen flickers often. So I went back in the Windows Update tool in Win11 and it had an optional update titled "Intel Corporation - Extension - 4146". So I figured this may change my driver once again to 4146. But it did not. It is 4255, as before, but I am guessing maybe the Extension was MSI settings for optimization that can work together with newer drivers?
Now, the Intel Assistant tool shows as if I have no updates, it cannot detect that I reverted back to 4255 from 4316. I am lost on what to do. Should I perform DDU uninstall on the current (4255) driver again and then install the latest (4826) driver using the Intel installer in your post? Or should I go just stay with 4255 with 4146 extension? Thank you very much in advance and I hope I wasn't too confusing. :D

Try the latest version posted from here.

Is it important to first uninstall the current driver using DDU via Safe Mode and only after this to do the install of new one? Or just install over it instead?

I install the driver just over the other one, it offers a clean install too. After i updated all my drivers i run a .bat file to delete all unused drivers. Right click on the .bat file and select run as administrator.

Your laptop uses the same drivers as mine, so you can use my updated drivers to update your notebook.

You should never use DDU. I am disappointed that MSI even endorse it. I have been building PC's for nearly thirty years, and in the past, I experimented with this software, and I proved that it removed or corrupted system files in many configurations. This thing is lethal.

I never used any of these kind of programs, same like people use programs to clean out registery. I used it once in my life to try and to clean registery, results was a clean install of my system because it wiped alot of system related files. Since Windows 10 i also never had to do any reinstalls, i must say compared to other Windows versions before (95/98/XP/ME/Vista/7/8 and 8.1) the system runs very stable and i don't notice any performance decrease over time.

I wish I knew this a few hours ago lol. I used it prior to posting here. But duly noted, thank you. I am getting a lot of stutters now. I will follow Michel's advice and hopefully can clean all the old driver files after doing the update. I really hope this DDU thing didn't mess up my brand new laptop.

Hey Michel, how do I use the cab file wushowhide to disable the Windows updating to older version again? It's started to download the old one again (4255) and I paused updates but I am afraid when i resume it will come back. I tried to use the wushowhide.diagcab but it didn't seem to do anything. Thanks

You paused the update, i would suggest to clean the windows update cache. After that run the .cab file to block it. Start the program, hit next, wait a bit, hit hide updates and select the ones you want to block.

The same happened to me, so I stopped using these programs. On rare occasions, if I have to make a registry change, I will back it up first and make the change manually.

You might be lucky. Everyone's configurations are different. If there is something amiss, you might not know for a while until you try to run a particular task. I think the final straw for me was discovering that DDU had deleted a Nvidia system file that was inherently built into the OS. The software is supposed to remove Nvidia drivers only, but on this occasion, it took a system file with it. Reinstalling the OS was my only option.

Oh man. Yeah, deleting DDU right now. Screw that noise. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully since this was just an Intel iGPU driver removal and not my Nvidia card things will be okay, but we'll see. So far so good, the new Intel driver that MichelN86 posted seems to be running great. I even checked my CPU temps on MSI Center and they are down about 2 degrees celsius.

the Realtek Audio UAD/DCH 6.0.9567.1 driver is finally available on the main MSI web site and not just on the MSI "Live Update" site

Today i started to compare the so called "mainboard" vs "notebook" realtek drivers. The only thing that is different is the folder structure and the setup file(s). All files are identical. I don't understand why msi just does not post a generic version for notebook and mainboard. They waste time with this really.

UAD folder is the same as Win64, config folder is empty.
Nieuw - Bitmapafbeelding3.png Nieuw - Bitmapafbeelding.png

Setup files mismatchs (probably because of folder structure), checked the .ini file manually and they are the same. Driver (.inf) are all the same. There is really nothing that makes any difference between mainboard vs notebook.

MSI really need to update their driver certifications more often. We wouldn’t have all these Windows drivers issues if they just did a better job keeping them up to date.

on a side note, I was reading that wushowhide will be phased out on Windows 11 at some point. But also seems that every so often, the update block parameters can get overridden by Windows regardless of your settings? Which leads to Windows automatically “updating” back to an older driver and making you go through the whole process again. Is there a way I can make surethat doesn’t happen to me?
