MSI Crosshair 15 B12UGZ keeps restarting when using both DIMMs (runs fine on 1 only)

Heads up to everyone who had problems, as MSI just released a new BIOS version for our laptop families (version 10E for my 15-B12UGZ model), plus they also posted a new Windows tool called "Intel ME FW Update Tool", which allows you to update both your ME driver and firmware (you need to make sure you only do this after updating the BIOS)!!! And since in my case, the BIOS version updates the EC to version 109, combined with the ME driver & firmware updates, I reckon this could be enough for some of you to help solve your RAM-induced resets. I can no longer test this out (although I did update all of them and all seems far so far, no new bugs introduced), because as I said previously, I managed to solve my problems by replacing my RAM a few months ago, but please do try this out and see if it helps. Cheers!!!

Thanks for the update. However, after buying and returning 3 sets of 64GB ram (G.Skill, Crucial and Kinston Fury) I have dropped my project to upgrade ram on my MSI laptop. As soon as I can get rid of it, I will buy another brand with the 64GB already installed and functional. Not going to spend more time installing BIOS and purchasing RAM to end up with the same issues.

Anyone upgraded the MSI Crosshair 15/17-BUGSZ to 64GB recently?

Yes, I was finally able to upgrade my MSI Crosshair 17 B12UGZ-400CA to 64 GB using Timetec 64GB DDR 4 kit.
See Timetec 64GB kit on

Good to know, and glad you found working memory for you unit ? Saw these rams yesterday too on amazon (Timetec Hynix) but not selling a kit in my country (The Netherlands). Wonder if it is the same as SK Hynix ?

Did you test these as well ?? It seems a user used 64GB on his GF63 Thin 11SCV and it is working fine. I also saw a post on reddit from another user, he/she upgraded to 64gb on his GP76 with the same ram.

I really want these on my Crosshair machine but i really don’t know if these would work or not.

I also found a user here using a MSI Katana 17,3 inch and confirmed 64Gb worked too. He used “G.Skill Ripjaws F4-3200C22D-64GRS werkgeheugen (64 GB, 2 x 32 GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz)”

Since a user confirmed this
I bought 2x32 GB Samsung DDR4 3200 CL22 Ram modules. Both memtest86+ and mdsched.exe returnet wit no error. Everytest passed successfuly. System works without any problem.

The exact 32 gb ram model is: Samsung M471A4G43AB1-CWE

I am a big Samsung fan, i will order these someday. Did you buy 2x 32gb or a kit ?

I tried to upgrade RAM to Kingston FURY Impact DDR4 64GB (2x32GB) on Crosshair 15 B12UGSZ. Got the same issue with rebooting at random. When I use 1x32GB instead (don't matter which one) everything works fine.
After reading posts above and some other posts on Reddit, I've updated BIOS and tried to mess with it's settings, but it doesn't matter what I do, nothing helps. Seems like it does not support 64GB after all.

I have the same machine and i upgraded this notebook with 2x 4TB Samsung 990 pro and 2x 32GB Samsung DDR4-3200 ram. No single issue here. Maybe you need to do some research before purchasing stuff to fast. 2 posts above your comment i already confirmed samsung worked. In this topic (a few posts up again) someone already tested those modules and they just do not work with crosshair b12ugsz. If you read the whole topic from page 1 to this one you see many people reported the same.

If you're looking for ram that works, the sticks seem to work if they're 2Rx8. I can confirm the Kingston Fury doesn't work because the Ram configuration is 2Gx8. I have no idea why the ram configuration matters, but there you go

I can't get the Samsumg ram in Australia Locally, but I was able to get 2 individual sticks of Crucial CT32G4SFD832A. The kit is apparently CT2K32G4SFD832A in case you're unable to get the Samsungs sticks locally.
