Downloaded all the files from MSI CUBI 2 page; Followed instructions for trying to flash bios. I'm using a usb drive that is recognized, allows me to go into setup to flash the bios. i run the Flash.bat file for the EB142IM.860 Update. It starts the Flash from DOS file.
"Reading Flash.........Done"
"-ME Data Size Checking . Ok"
"Secure Flash Enabled, recalculate ROM size with signature... Enable."
"-FFS Checksums..........BAD"
"7 - Error: Bios Checksum Error."

I need to update the Bios, not that I want to. However my Cubi 2 Boots to Bios, I set the time date and settings in Bios and then "Save and Reboot"
And Then EVERY SINGLE TIME, the Cubi 2 powers on but sits and does nothing. Blank Screen
Occasionally it will freeze at the MSI Logo screen.

I have to remove the battery jumper to restore the bios back to default settings.
Keep in mind i'm not making any other changes. That includes booting into bios and selecting save and reboot. Same thing. Every time.

Anyone have any ideas? Am I overlooking something simple?

I'm about to toss this thing in the garbage and never purchase MSI product again. Too Much Trouble.

MSI has 3 models for "Cubi 2" and all are different.
Cubi 2 / Cubi 2 plus / Cubi 2 plus vPro

To avoid incorrect BIOS file, please contact MSI directly.

The BIOS file located on the USB key is a corrupted.
Possible a bad USB key.
On another PC: You can compare the BIOS file located on that USB key with another healthy BIOS copy downloaded from MSI page,
do a hash check of files.

And in any case as others said above, also ensure to flash the correct BIOS for your unit.

OK, Purchased brand new Sandusky 32GB usb Thumb drive. Downloaded bios from MSI Cubi 2 Download page.

to answer the original post YES I’m positive I have the CUBI 2 base Model, not the plus, etc.

YES I am using the correct bios as mine state EB142IMS.840 dated 2017

I am trying to flash to (Downloaded) Bios EB142IMS.860 dated 2018.

still getting same message checksum error.
The bios are in the USB root drive under folder EB142IMS.860 per the “Rufus” program instructions.
As in my screen shot the MSI program (DOS) AMI FIRMWARE UPDATE UTILITY is running this flash update program.

Hey MSI are your BIOS corrupted on the CUBI 2 Support page? This is the 6th time I’ve downloaded the BIOs and get the same result every time.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey MSI are your BIOS corrupted on the CUBI 2 Support page?
If you need to contact MSI Support you can do this here:
>>How to contact MSI.<<

On forum is mostly user to user one.

Can you upload EB142IMS.860 from your USB key somewhere and give a link to check it?

Could be also AMI's flasher's issue, there was similar issues in the past with dos flasher:
* Fixed the "FFS checksums" is bad problem, when booting with HIMEM.SYS installed.

Well. I just toke my MSI Cubi 2 out of the closet and started it up. I wanted to update the bios and was successful. But it started to hang on reboots. So I had to take one of the sticks of ram out and now it reboots with no problem. Not sure if that helps you with the issue of hanging. I am using Corsair Vengeance 16gb sticks (2x8) at 2400mhz. When I would reboot it would just hang at the MSI black screen and not do anything. Once I removed one of the sticks it has been rebooting fine. But now I want my 16gb back. So going to try some Kingston Hyper X 32gb (2x16) at 2666mhz to see if that will fix the problem on reboots. Fingers crossed that this ram will fix my problem.
