I have installed the latest updates from Nvidia and my CX70 sometimes hangs and gives me a BSPOD after hanging a while or suddenly.
The LED behind the power button is red when this happens.
I have Windows 7 HP preinstalled
When I search for the drivers manually on your website I get outdated drivers (297.x.x) which can not be installed
The drivers from the disc (311.43) work
Why are there problems? Should I not use the latest update (332.21) from Nvidia?

Oh and I had to deactive the austart entry for SCM, because there was an error after starting windows related to the Microsoft Net Framework, is this ok?

Had to do a forced restart 3 times or more today pressing the power button for a few seconds

And now this:
Right-click on Desktop
LED behind power button turns from blue to red
Everything freezes
Laptop does nothing
BSOD (nvlddmkm.sys)

I am very annoyed! This happened now so often and this is not good for the hdd and rest of the hardware!

It seems the nvidia driver has problems caused by energy saving (PCIExpress)

What BIOS/EC is currently installed?

You should be able to check this within the BIOS itself.

Have to check this later but wmic says:
wmic bios get version
Version
MSI_NB - 1072009

Also there isd no newer version from msi.com or LiveUpdate, just a first release, so this is alreade the latest BIOS version
Also when the notebook goes into sleep mode and I press the start button and Windows continues then the LED turns red and stays red, should I update the Nvidia drivers to the latest version?
It seems this has to do something with the energy saving plan.

sure, but there is no newer BIOS version available
this issue has nothing to do with the BIOS.
After changing the energy saving plan (do not save energy for PCIExpress devices) there are no more hangs or bluescreens
But when I close my laptop, wait until it is in sleep mode, open and press the start button and continue windows then the LED turns red and the graphics card is not properly working again

Just a side note, don't use LiveUpdate on laptops

why not? do I have to search this huge list manually on this msi website for updates?
Updates were installed without any issues

Yup. They were. How do you know they were the correct ones?

If you look at the download page for LiveUpdate, it plainly says:
"Live Update 5 utility is only intended for MSI Desktop PC related products (mainboards and graphics cards) usage. This utility doesn?t support any MSI Notebook (NB and Tablet PC) or AIO product, while installed might experience unexpected errors. If it happens that you have installed Live Update 5 on your Notebook or AIO system, please uninstall it then perform system restart."

I don't recommend it at all, since it is known to NOT install the correct drivers (wonder why you keep getting that blue screen?), and who knows if they will function properly. I won't even get into how it installs incorrect BIOS's and will brick your system if you do that.

For all we know at this point, all your problems are due to using MSI Live Update.

Because it works without any issues.
No, no more blue screen since I have deactivated energy saving for PCIExpress in the energy saving settings of Windows.
Well, it seems it supports my notebook. The text says that only the MSI Live Update utility itself causes errors but not the drivers.
So, what do you say now? There was no BIOS update because there is only one initial release of the BIOS, so there is no update available.

I have done some updates using the LiveUpdate but nothing is broken or so. Wonder why it is working?

This is what my LiveUpdate has installed:
MB Driver Intel INF Update 9.4.0.1026
msi Utility Super-Charger 1.2.019
Other Utility Intel Extreme Tuning Utility 4.0.6.305

http://www.msi.com/product/nb/CX70-2OD.html#/?div=BIOS&nbos=Win7 64
there is mentioned that we can use the update utility?
why do I not find the download for S-Bar or MSI System Control Manager?

Don't worry - the update list for your particular type of notebook isn't too long. And you will notice that updates will stop pretty soon. 1 years mostly, 2 years sometimes when something serious pops up. With business notebooks you get better support; my Compaq workstation did get an enhanced BIOS after 4.5 years - that's seldom seen. My Asus got updates about 1.5 years, my MSI about the same. After that you may find updates from the device mfg sites.

one last question:
is it recommend to update BIOS and Firmware or does this also cause problems on the notebook? There are just problems with tablets mentioned on the download website.
and what about updatting Nvidia drivers to the latest version?

well there is only a version like 2.15.1236 in my BIOS at the bottom
but http://www.msi.com/product/nb/CX70-2OD.html#/?div=BIOS&nbos=Win7 64 says something with Version 20E?

I never update a working system - except the video drivers, they may give enhanced performance.

but most updates resolve critical errors and issues
sure, I do not flash or update BIOS normally but almost all drivers so it works with the latest updates from Windows (Like Net framework - seems an older SCM version was not working with the newest Net framework version, an update of SCM resolved this problem)

A working system = no critical errors or issues. If they pop up => trying to update.

well, I do always an update when I get a new computer or notebook because the drivers on the cd are in most cases outdated, after this there are no new updates planned, only if they provide better performance and useful functions

please see latest updates from this thread: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/678232/geforce-mobile-gpus/bsod-on-msi-cx70/?offset=5#4105858

disabling UAC and Intel Speedstep fixed it in most cases, but sometimes it still happens when I close the lid of the notebook and then for some restarts, it hangs then on the login screen or on the desktop.

What crap is this nvidia graphics card and driver?
